Last night Big O "The Show Must Go On", a premiere and season finale scheduled to air as part of our Halloween stunt, failed to air. This was certainly not intentional, and it's still not quite clear how the mistake was made. We're very sorry that this happened, and we want to make it up to you. Here's the plan:

Big O, "The Show Must Go On" will air at 11pm next Sunday, November 2.

Family Guy, "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein," an episode that's making its television debut on Adult Swim, will move to 11pm on Sunday, November 9.

Thanks for making us aware of our mistake. We heard about it first on the boards. Please use this thread to voice any lingering complaints and opinions on the topic.

Apologetically yours,

Kim Manning

Thanks a lot. I, for one, really appreciate the effort that's gone into this on the part of the staff. It takes a lot of courage for a professional company to give this kind of a public apology and to reschedule a highly publicized episode in order to make up for a mistake. Well done. I'm looking forward to watching both, the last episode of Big O and the special Family Guy episode.

thank you for making some kind of official announcement. I only wish it had been done alot sooner as to not cause as much chaos as waiting until now did, such as saying something at the webcam party so that it might get translated here, or something so that we didnt turn into the pulsating angry mob that we are now and have given the mods so much work in deleting our, how shall we say, rude comments heh

Methinks maybe the 'blunder' was actully a marketing tool to gage viewer responses.

I wonder how many negative posts came in after the wrong episode aired.....and if [as] were able to use those numbers to mark up sponsor rates for when they start airing Big O during the work week. Or maybe to WOW their mgmt.

I see the 'conspiracy' behind everything! Even when one does not exist!!!!!

Thanks for the explanation and apology, Kim. All is forgiven, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like this is a case of really really really bad timing. But at least we'll be getting to see the real Big O finale soon.

I thank you for clearing things up. It's a shame that this mishap had to occur on the finale/halloween bash night.

Why remove Family Guy entirely from nov. 2? I thought it was scheduled to air four times that night.

I hope Family Guy's movement is heavily advertised. I saw the November 2nd promotion no less than four times last night during Adult Swim. Unless you make it quite clear the mistake that happened, we're going to have even more irate Family Guy fans on our hands here.

Anyway, major kudos for the explaination. My heart will go on...

Yeah,

Thanks for the official response.
I figured it was a glitch or a last minute change since Digital Cable listed Episode 26 in the guide, and Ep 20 was what was shown.

That happened on NBC 2 weeks ago when Law and Order was suposed to be new one and they showed a rerun unstead. Cable guide was not updated and conflicted with what they showed. It was during the Baseball series though, so I figured it was a last minute switch to minimize viewer loss on the East Coast due to the game.

Thanks, Kimma. Looks like a bad conjunction of the planets--wrong tape, drunk webcam party, totally pissed off viewers.

I'm old, I understand mistakes. Just sorry it took so long for somebody there to realize and address the mob in a sane fashion. Thanks to you and Andy, we at least know what's going on now.

I actually skipped a visit to my aged parents' house (They're in their 70's) for the weekend because they don't have cable and I had to see the last Big O. See, we adjust our lives around you, so you really are important to us. If we didn't care, we wouldn't be so upset.

The apology is welcomed and accepted. Thank you for making this known to us who tend to faithfully watch. I must say that last night, was an example of a lot of threads being cut and it caused a lot of consternation and questioning as to what the intent of AS was to its customers (which IS what we are...) so, as one rather rankled fan of 'BIG O', I want to say: "Thank You" for at least taking the time to explain the matter and to make contact with the audience in a reasoned and reasonable manner. (even if the masses do tend to 'HOWL' sometimes... mooooaaaaahhhh haaaaa haaaaa~)

Thank you. The acknowlegement and apology is appreciated, and I'm sure all now look forward to seeing the payoff next Sunday.

Still it would have been handier if somebody had made a command decison last night; all of the legitimate disgruntlement wouldn't have been created in the first place.

Dear Kim,
Thanks for telling the 5 hour sleep people whats up. Yes like the masses I was packing a flame thrower when I signed on the boards today and one swift breeze from cool land and all was well. Except that mistakes were made on Big O all the other shows put foot to behind, Aqua teen is great and I will buy the DVD when avail. It goes to show that one voice from up top does help, and say where would all this talk be without the internet??? no where!! Great marketing tool and all that but immediate feedback is what people need. validation. Danka!!

New Coke, Yeah. All it was was Classic Coke with Nutrisweet instead of Sugar. Bill Cosby was the pitchman.

I'm [edited], so I remember it. As a B.B.A with a marketing degree, we use to joke about it and the public reaction to it at college.

Man, was that a bomb.

thanks for the prompt reply - as I said in my own post, I figured it'd all be fixed up...

just a note - all of the Big O fans DO appreciate the effort that CN and AS went to in getting us a second season - so if we seem a bit rabid at times, well... you can't blame us.

thanks again!

For closure, some of us would like to see the apology in a card or an ad.

Eureka 7- Don't watch it and maybe Adult Swim will hire programmers that don't get crappy anime.

Adult Swim has every right to air Saved by the Bell. But we also have every right not to watch. :smileywink:

Thank you very much for the apology. May I ask that next time this happens, though, someone make sure to come here and tell us something like "we know there was a problem, we're on it" -right away- so people don't get as unpleasant? Thanks.

It will be safe to say that they will do it prior to next Sunday's episode.

They've got a fine PR staff going on, they've realized the error and are working to remedy it.

Not true. I haven't gotten to see the majority of season one. My cable is less than 14 weeks old. I'm looking forward to being able to see it from the beginning.
