This show is probably the second favorite anime of all time in my household, and to see that happen Saturday night...and then have to explain to someone who won't be able to see it until June that he would probably have to wait even longer to see it even mostly intact...

As I had previously mentioned in one of my posts, editing for violence or sexually suggestive material is unavoidable. The FCC would rip you a new one for it. However, if the attempt is made to retain as much of the original material as possible, then that's how we have to roll.

Thank you so much for deciding to do a re-edit and repeat of E-7's final episode, Merrill & Kim. This time I'm sure you'll be careful to preserve the important and essential images and actions that truly conclude this wonderful story. Since somebody messed up somehow and got the editing all wrong, you guys need to work on your quality control. Let's face it, the "Eureka Severed" incident is the biggest thing since the "Big O-ccident" of 2003. I know that comedy brings in the ratings, and that we anime fans can sometimes seem whiny and not worth the bother. But I'm glad to see somebody remembered that we also are your most loyal supporters. Comedy fans love Family Guy, not Adult Swim. They couldn't care less about who shows it. One channel's as good as another. But we anime fans care about Adult Swim, the channel, because you are the folks who bring us the anime we love. Thanks again for the make-good. I plan to be watching. (^_*)

While I know what you're getting at, I still don't like the generalizations that go on here.
I, and a lot of the comedy fans on here, don't just come to [as] for Family Guy and poof. I am a supporter of the block as a whole, and not just the comedy portion, either. In fact, a lot of us here may be just as loyal as you guys are with the anime portion of the block.

I am very glad to hear this, Merrill. I hope that even if it is edited a little for time, that at least the OP and ED are removed like the episode is supposed to be so we can see a little more of it. A lot of us have been really upset about this whole fiasco, but I am glad that you all over at Williams Street are trying to set things right with your fans by expressing your concern for your mistake and attempting to rectify it. That means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to the other people on the boards too.

Well, as long as you guys are doing the best you can do, we can't really ask for more. I know the version I WANT to see probably won't be the one that gets aired, but I'm pretty sure I can accept something that's edited down to 21~23 minutes. It was the 19 minute hackjob that we got last week that upsetted me
Anyway, I don't really care about the reasons it was hacked up in the first place, I'm just glad we're getting a reair. Thank you.

As I posted elsewhere, 30-minute shows usually have 22 minutes of content & 8 minutes of commercials. If they have to make cuts for time, they may wind up with 22-23 minutes & not the 18-19 minute butchery of last Saturday. I'm curious how & why the cuts occurred in the 1st place, but they are trying to make it right. IMHO, they should also put the unedited version back on the Fix for a week so those of us who didn't see it on the Fix can compare.

I know you have to edit for time, that is expected since it is american tv.
however, I think this time around the editors should watch the episode a few times to see what is important and what could be left out and still keep the episode's meaning intact. maybe (and this is my suggestion from last weekend) remove an ad or two for that slot itself for the night. the monologue and epilogue are imortant for the episode because they provide the setting and conclusion.
I will be happy if the episode is at least a 7/10 (I gave the airing a 5.5/10 last weekend).

Well I don't think most people who were watcing the show on Adult Swim were expecting text translations this late in the game. Also, anyone who thought the infamous "card" that aired at the end of the Japanese airing (which supposedly was replaced with another card on the DVDs) was going to be aired on Adult Swim's version were probably setting themselves up for a big disappointment to begin with (and it wasn't on Fix so why would it show up on the TV version?). I personally also figured the show episode would be edited down in some way. However, the edit as it was of the end was just glaring IMO - I may not be able to read Japanese but even I can tell "the end" doesn't have the Roman numeral "1" before it .
Anyway, thank you for going the extra mile and reairing it with less editing. I know Eureka Seven was never the ratings getter everyone was hoping for but I hated to see it end in such a chopped up way.
