General Mouse Discussion, 2010

Well it's a new year and I thought it was about time

to start another general Discussion about The Mouse.

So talk amongst yourselves, I'll most likely join in!

Messed up how?
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a **beast** big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of **beast** fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the **beast** you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing **beast** junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, **beast** up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else.

Never noticed that on mine. Not even when I watched the whole thing closely without distraction when I made icons.

Odd. :O

Never had that problem with my copy. Sometimes mine plays a little slow, but I think that's just because I've watched it so much that it's a little worn out.

I can see you put a part of your soul in this film

I respect that

And when the time comes

I will delete all brain cells

And watch it strait through

( I don't need drugs to see the genius,

I just love weed and cartoons)

its gunna change my life

(totally)

because I can see the psychology of your characters.

Its deeper then people think. (like xavier)

There's messages about life

peoples inner egos, surface persona,

points of view about existing and what for.

yeah, it is amazing. you were able to fit all that

Into a show made of crayons

          and

psychedelIc jokes

you must have been through alot

im glad you made it.

Whats up wit dat cooked food?

My seven year old nephew got off the bus here the other day when I was watching to find where the drum solo was. He stood in the doorway for maybe ten minutes watching before he finally went to get a snack. That 10 minutes was all it took to corrupt him. His mom said every time she gives him something now he will sit there just repeating "I don't have to say thanka you to you. I don't have to say thanka you to you. I don't have to say thanka you to you." until she makes him quit. :smileyvery-happy: I told him he wouldn't understand but I guess I was wrong. I don't know what he liked so much about it but I could here him laughing a lot while he finished watching it. He chose to watch it over Phineas and Ferb! That says a lot since that's his favorite show after Futurama.

duzi, even if the other version of Skillet's solo was longer it wouldn't kick near as much butt because you can't see his drumsticks burst into flames.

And the other thread was locked, almost left this there. :smileyvery-happy:

I just recently got the 12 oz mouse dvd, and I watched the whole thing over - then later watched disc 2 again not too long after and I'm probably going to be stuck in my room watching it over and over again the next few days.

God, this show is awesome :smileyhappy:

P.S. I really love that song that plays when the New Guy appears and tries hypnotising people

These have to be really low quality dvds.  I've heard several people on and off the boards say their copies don't work anymore.  I decided to back mine up on my computer, but my computer can't back up the second disc.  I haven't watched the second disc since, but I hope it's not defected as well =(

What make it even sadder is who knows when their stock will run out and if they'll ever make more copies ever again.  If we keep having to rebuy copies, then potential new fans might not get their chance to own the hard copy.

Uponst attempting to back up my second DVD with ImgBurn, I am getting myriad 'scrambled sector' errors.  Perhaps the second disc is copy protected somehow and your DVD player does not enjoy it.  The first disc ripped with nary a plum.

Yeah, I managed to rip and burn my first dvd (sounds awful if you don't know the computer meaning for those words :smileyvery-happy:), but the second dvd can't be placed on my hard drive.  I'm glad to hear someone else had that problem so it probably isn't a problem.  It's just weird that the two discs are encoded differently...

I can rip most of DVD 2 with DVD Decrypter, but there are a few chunks (in the #6 block) that it doesn't like..  probably 25 minutes or so?  Annoying.

I'm guessing that it costs money to apply this protection, so they only went with the second disc?

This experience also makes me wonder why someone hasn't just made a program that plays a video DVD normally and then simply captures what's on the screen frame-by-frame as well as the audio.  Then too I wonder why you can't therefore 'pretend' to play the video and the sound and just write it out directly.  THEN, I wonder how this protection that disallows reading the files directly from the DVD works at all, because when you get to the point where you're 'pretending', that's exactly what you're doing, reading the files directly from the DVD.  There is therefore no reason why every DVD isn't rippable.  The best a manufacturer could do is make sectors that come back randomly with each read, except that that would degrade the picture or make the disc generally unusable, and even then, surely in the ripping process you could just choose to skip bad sectors and write all 0s or whatever for them.

SO overall this entire process has left me perplexed.  As far as the legality of not allowing a consumer to truly have the copy of the data that they paid for, I must bow to the free market.

Way back when I first got my copy, I figured out some way to rip part 2 of the movie, but I never figured out how to rip the special features, other than just ripping the whole disk as an ISO. I won't go into the details anymore than that here, since the legality of it all is a little...nebulous. I'm about 99% sure everything I did is okay according to Fair Use law, but then again I'm not a lawyer. Needless to say, I'm the only person who has ever had access to any of the ripped files; I know that sharing them would definitely probably maybe cross the line of legitimate Fair Use, but I also know that the people who made Mouse deserve every potential penny of profit they could get from DVD sales, and then some.

Hmm yeah ImgBurn kept getting read errors, I suppose I could set it to ignore them and it would have to work..  according to logic, anyway.

As far as legality, I am copying data the license to which I already purchased so I am in the clear AND as a bonus I have no plans to ever share the data with anyone, although really my plans are my own.  :smileyhappy:  I too believe that all involved with 12ozmo deserve revenue.

Yay!!!
