Mouse back on TV

[ Edited ]
I just saw a promo saying that weeknights starting Monday the 6th, Adult Swim is having "Adult Swim DVR Theater" at 4:00 AM ET. So gas up your DVRs if you have 'em, or optionally watch them in the wee hours.

Currently the schedule reads:

4:00 Xavier
4:15 12 Oz. Mouse
"And we get stuff like Two and a Half Men and Dane Cook and everybody sleepwalks through their little lives and eventually death's sleep comes." - SwimMod_Luuv
"Seth McFarlene [sic] is ####ing Mike Lazzo." - dudeco

there's nothing objectionable here...

how can I act like an idiot if you don't say something for me to flame?

anyway, if you'll note, [as] schedule (future) isn't updated to reflect this, but the individual days have them airing in order (looks like they're going to air the series (and hopefully do the same with other old shows... Sealab 2021 season 3 & 4 anyone?)

Unfortunately with school and stuff I won't be able to catch it at such an odd hour. And I don't have a DVR either. I'd totally watch/record it if I could. (Though I guess I could get a VCR.)

its not the same, really.

and this is really awesome of [as] to play mouse on tv again.
even if they only play the first 5 episodes and next week change to something else.
(which i sorta have to believe will happen, cuz the bump said "this week:  12 oz mouse and xavier" )

im just stoked its on the block and theyre giving people who dont know anything about it a chance to see it.
if they happen to be awake.. and can get past their hurdles that keep them from grasping whats under the animation.

Initially I thought they'd give both shows a full run because they both have 20 episodes and would end at the same time. I must have missed the "this week" part of the bump.

Both Mouse and Xavier have smallish, devoted fanbases that might make this kind of scheduling work. I have no idea what ratings Adult Swim expects at 4AM. It's probably a throwaway timeslot where they can schedule just about anything. If Adult Swim continues this experiment, I would hope that they rotate in other shows that have garnered interest over the years, like Frisky Dingo or Lucy or maybe even Space Ghost.

My fear is that this experiment will go the way of "Old School Fridays." I hope "DVR Theater" succeeds so Adult Swim can schedule more of its shows in the overnight hours. But my expectations are rather low, honestly.

heres the thing about it being on tv..
its like a soap opera.
with the dvd, yeah, you get the theater experience..
but with the 11 minute episodes, we're able to analyze and question things..
until the next episode comes on.
lol.

with new people just now discovering the show..
they'll get the whole soap opera, cliff-hanging experience.
and we get to enjoy it as well,
even though theres a crap load of us who have seen it too many times to count.
:smileyvery-happy:

(ive been begging [as] for years to play mouse on tv again..
im not sure why they decided to throw us a mousey bone, but im glad they did.
im so grateful to be able to see it on the tube again)

You're right, it is the same show just woven into a movie. Originally I thought that the show in movie form would be great, but I now think that it might have been better in episode form. When you watch all 3+ hours at once, it takes away from some of the drama that was widely discussed when the show was premiering. If you watch, say, 3 episodes at a time, it lets the show sink in a little more and creates a feeling of "man I can't wait to watch the next one." So I think the viewer gets a different impression of this show watching it episode-by-episode rather than all at once.

id love it if they ran lucy for a week.. and sg and fd and assy and tgttm and ....
man, theres alot of shows they could give this airime to that id approve of, lololol.

i have high hopes for this slot/theater dealio.
but then again.. my hopes are almost impossible to dash.

alright based on what you and the other guy are saying, there is no episode selection?

because the way you paint the picture the credits roll, **werd** happens, end credits roll, disc 2 repeat...

if this is a truism, I recant my statement despite the legitimacy of it being made in pure ignorance... however, if the episodes CAN be played individually, then tuff it up like the rest of us AquaSquidVenturew/eElseisatopsellingshow and click a button or two

also, it aired on [as], there is NO WAY it necessitates a paced watching speed. GRANTED: it is very easy to get burned out on any [as] show when "marathoning" as it were, so... yeah

again, ignorance (coupled with owning a few William St. DVDs) is a factor here

heh theres no episode selection..
but thats also kinda neat, too.
i can name most of the episodes as they run into each other on the dvd.
its almost subconscious at this point for me.
so, thats sorta fun to catch myself doing it.
:smileytongue:

we've only had one marathon.
its time for another!
>_>

word, yes, I see the validity to your complaint now, and that there is no option for all or separate is a bit inane...

anyway, I was using marathon loosely just to say watching more than 3-4 episodes consecutively and without interruption...

all that said, I really only came here to say I was excited the DVR theater was happening if only that it mean a strong possibility in other "old" [as] shows getting reran: Lucy, Sealab... blah blah

that said, I looked up 12 oz, having not enjoyed it originally (and I wasn't about to go near the xavier board: I hate that show so much, the fans by proxy), and think it might actually be to my liking... so long as I can get to that second episode ("signals"?) to make a more coherent conclusion (I don't watch shows out of order, and I think I've heard/read several people/places (respect.) say it should (HAS TO) be watched in order.

ahh, xavier..
i like to think of it as a brain candy show.
they make up words and put other words with words that should never be together..

and they make them make sense in a strange sort of tasty mental journey
with animation just as juicy as the script.
i love words.. and xavier is like a schmorgasborg of colorful dialogue to my brain.
(but im still the same lovable duzi you knew before reading that.. :smileytongue:)

im hoping youll make it to episode2.
and beyond!
(ill be here for episodes 3, 4, and 5 discussions..
but i have to work mon and tes graveyard.

I know beggars can't be choosers, and like almost everyone else here I have been begging for ozMo to make it back onto TV for a long time, but [as] has to show the entire series. Period. The ozMo experience is a culmination of all the episodes put together; it's all a singular storyline, not 20 completely exclusive episodes. That's why the decision was made to produce the DVD in movie form rather than episode form. Anything less than a full run is an affront to the show.

Still, fuuuuuudge YEAH, THE MOUSE IS BACK!!!!!
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a **beast** big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of **beast** fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the **beast** you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing **beast** junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, **beast** up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else.

it wouldn't have made sense for them to not run the entire series of whatever they put up (assuming of course we're dealing with shows that have irregular length seasons such as these two... other shows like SGC2C or SL2021 would probably get a best of run...)
