Honestly sometimes it doesnt make sense but its still a funny show. Its just the things they say that makes the show really funny. When the mouse and squirrel got into a gun fight with who knows who, and the cop was high as hell, that was funny!

Short story: It's basically Inception mixed with the Matrix. Kidnapped kids hooked up to machines where they together formed a simulation. Inside the simulation they form another simulation.
Long story:
Shark and No-Eyed Square Guy trap the other kids inside the simulation and hook them up to another machine inside the simulation which creates the 12 oz mouse/Q109 reality/project.
Everyone does what they please. Fitz felt like robbing banks and drinking beer, so that's what he does. No-Eyed Square Guy wanted to be rich, so he's rich. They're only limited by the crude imaginations of the trapped children, that's why Shark had to choose the Shark as his avatar.

Q109/The code as I previously mentioned has different layers of reality. In the last episode when Golden Joe and Peanut Cop dissapears, it's just Archeus saving them to the first layer of the simulation. You can see the same xray-effect on Peanut Cop when he gets infected with the Anti-language gas in season 2, episode 11. Probably Archeus tried to save him then too, but was too weak.

The characters seem to be controled by Muff/Archeus at times without them knowing (Fitz denying stuff he did to Shark, Liqour insulting NESG and forgetting about it, Golden Joe forgetting he could teleport when trapped).
Even though things seem evil towards the good characters (Roostre, Joe and Peanut ganging up or the notes attacking Fitz), it's just to push the characters towards breaking free.

 I love this show and wish I had enough spare time to make a 3 hour documentary about it.

What makes you say that they are all children? The Eye mentioned he was waiting for school, so he seems to be, but what about the others?

Roostre said "You need to contact my teacher and tell her I need to get back in the boat".
No-eyed Square Guy says something like "We were on the same bus, remember?" to Shark in some episode.

Just in the beginning of the last episode, when they walk through the desert and the bird abducts Joe, and Peanut gets beamed away.
In the previous episode, Nurse told Peanut "Contact the new Agel, tell her to come for us" Agel being 1 of the three ships, or should I say one of the two still existing. The first ship was destroyed, killing Archeus.

Cinnamon worked for No-Eyed Square Guy as a Nurse. "But Brandy, Breezy and Butterfly got out. They found the new Agel."

At least that's my interpretation, but I promise I'm not making stuff up from out of the blue. It's the conclusions I've drawn from the clues.
