Helloapollo had asked if the bonuses stack...
Yes, they do. So you can have a boombox (or whatever) in place, and the surrounding plants will get the boombox bonus. And if you have say, a flamingo that boosts all your plants, then yup the boombox plants get that also. You can stack your bonuses as you like, not sure if there is a cap though. Pretty sure having 2 boomboxes in range of same plant will also stack.
Pick your bonuses based on your play style or needs. i.e.., Use hemp production boosters if you are growing the low-yield/high pay plants. If you are using high yield plants, you wont get much more out of the hemp boosters, so use the time boosters instead, etc.
No idea if watering is actually necessary, I know I forgot to water one crop set (they were 6 hour plants), nothing died and they grew right on time. I also waaay overwatered a few just to see and that also changed nothing. If anyone has any good info about the water I'd like to know, atm it seems like pointless busy-work.
Also; anyone know it there is an amount of money you get where it actually says you are a tycoon, something... anything?

UPDATE: OK, there IS a cap on how much boost you can get from multiple items of same boost type. The cap appears to be what you would get by using the most powerful item.
So, if you are using a spotlight and horseshoes for the speedy growth boost, you will not be able to get more than using a mirror would give you. The top-of-the-line items will give you more space (since you can cut down on cross feeds from stacking), but stacking top-of-the-line items will give you no additional boost.
Hope that helps

quicker growing: half of what it would take
yield: you only get +3 to yield.
withering and experience gain seem to be different with each plant

in other words: 2 incenses and 2 buddahs per zone(yard, field, island) would max everything
sadly i worked my way up to an island and THEN found out that there was no way to get that ungodly score so quickly without cheating...
but just for Sh*ts and Giggles ill mention what i did getting up to an island.
My focus was on reducing how long things took to grow... in hindsight, it should be max yield and min grow time. but anyway, the above poster was correct. baby verde are the fastest money maker until paradise... but thats not the key here. It's experience. getting to the field asap is what you want... and once you get there its all about money. experience comes just working on getting the money for the better items that come quickly... not to mention paying for plowing.
big berries were the ones i sat on the longest. doubling money from that every half hour was nice. worked up to paradise and did the same with those only gaining alot more with higher yield (maxing yield doubled profits for +1250$) with flamingo and satyr... and 4 spotlights on the field so that they evenly distrubuted over the whole place(think pinwheel). Once underway with that setup, toss a sprinkler to one of the spots on the side and your race to 20 is underway. once i hit 20, i had ~300k saved and was able to fully plow my island, and only took 1 planting of oily lotus (in the best locations) to fully setup the island too. If you are thinking of using mirrors... dont. save your money for the incense.
once you get to incense and buddah tho, placement has no meaning, its just straight growing at that point. best productivity comes from oily lotus. at 5000$per plant per 30 mins at 48 open spots (attic spot is a negligible boost)

A guide coming soon to explain the modifiers? It seems I have maxed out the harvest bonus for gnomes and phonographs combined. I have used a lot of trial and error on 'stuff' placement (and thusly pawned a lot as well). I've gotten to the point now where I just staggered gnomes in the field for max output w/ exclusively paradise seeds.
Anyhoo... on level fourteen working towards the Satyr and more fountains for XP. Great game, very addictive.

On the modifiers:
There are three levels, little more, more and much more.
You cannot go higher than much more. This I can confirm for both yield adders and growth time reducers. Also
little more + little more = more, and more + little more = much more.
In your field, the best location for the neighbor boosters is on the four corners of the 4x4 square. The planting area will look like a big "X." When I went through the earlier levels, my only concern was money, so the only items I bought were yield boosters. Four phonographs on the corners covered the other 20 squares. Once I had enough money to buy two satyrs (in retrospect, I should have bought a satyr and a flamingo), I put in a couple fish ponds ('cause they were cheap) to boost my XP.
You want to stockpile as much cash as you can in your current stage, and yes, Paradise should be your horse. It will cost you $200k to fully expand the island once you unlock it, and you'll need more money to outfit it with boosters.
