I'm still in the same boat as I've always been with temp folders. I don't love them but I think they are ok as long as they stay temporary. I don't think I would want to see any more temp folders though.

that being said I loved swimcon and loved the different folders.

to answer your second post .com is my favorite folder too. it is a place anyone can come and feel free to be themselves without having to fit in to a folders specific mold. the goofyness and joking is what makes the folder work. if it was sterile no fun I think the whole board would suffer. it is a place to share help and ideas with the [as] flair. plus the folder description thing says we can talk about flying turtles. anything is fair game.

and I never felt like the goofy posting was too IB in here. simply for the fact that the jokes in here generally have some coherence.

I think that .Com moves so slowly [relatively speaking] that becoming a super strict folder would be kinda pointless. If things get too out of control, off-topic-wise, it's not like the next Mod on isn't going to notice and curb-stomp the bad anyway.

Some Mods seem to only really actively post in .Com too and it would be a shame to see them having to put on their serious face here when they may have to be all serious face everywhere else they delurk. I see their silliness in threads in .Com outside the serious Hey Mod as an indicator that all is well in Mod-town and if everything has to be seriz busniz around here, poor Mods will age faster than yogurt in the sun.

Except Odin. He'll just burst into flames because he'd be a ginger in the sun.

Personally I think they're pretty neat. Before people would just post about the SB wherever they normally post and pretty much not go anywhere else. Now you've got people posting in that folder about it that are from a bunch of different places around the board. They get to interact with users they don't normally have anything to do with.


I guess right now we have the Halloween and Super Bowl folders opening up each year, is that good? Should we have more?

But there are multiple places for things like the super bowl. By making a temporary folder you can bring together a bunch of different users who would normally stick to their own folder.

I'm a fan of custom icons, lots of people are. Some people don't quite like that they can be of things completely unrelated to [as]. Anyone here feel this way? Do you think it diminishes the site by having them? Or do you think it keeps the place alive?



Sometimes I feel like it should be just [as] material for icons, but other times that seems way to constrictive. Like, we're on the internet man, give us freedom! Buuuuuut, you also don't go to Fight Club and have tea and crumpets. You go to Fight Club and you FIGHT. We should be sticking to [as] on the [asmb], no?
