I don't have anything in mind specifically, I'd have to think about it. 

I just liked how the con was a board-wide thing that everyone could enjoy, you had a bunch of posters all together participating who never interacted ordinarily.

Yes, YES! That's what I really loved about it. It was like .Com... but ten million times better. So many people from so many places all in one place. It was quite excellent.


I had an idea that would work towards shoving everyone together again - once a month, but it was a no go. Boards are too corporate to do it.

I know! I sometimes just hop around the comedy folder and some of the action folders because there are so many people there that I don't know, let alone ever seen. It's so weird not recognizing names. o.O




I've got a question for you folks since it's almost October. What do you guys thinks about special, holiday folders? I think Halloween works well because of the type of people we have here, but do you think it would work for other holidays?

I can't really think of any other holidays it would work quite the same or as well as Halloween.

Easter and July 4th... I don't know about those two. I mean, most people just look at July 4th as a time to set off fireworks so I doubt there'd be much to do with that one. Easter... hrm. I don't know. It's another one of those weird holidays where some people don't think much of it and others are all over it. I'm not sure it'd work on the site either. Though an easter egg hunt type game would be pretty awesome.

I think the only one it could really work for would be Christmas/New Year's (and all other Winter holidays) because those are holidays most people plan out and make a big to-do over. I can see a "Winter Holiday" folder doing fairly well with threads of people posting video/pictures of local holiday lights, listing what they'd like to have (we've had "Dear Santa" threads in the bump/WSC folders before), what they've acquired during the season, their plans, etc. etc. Discussing your favorite holiday movies, music and food, complaining about TBS playing "A Christmas Story" for the millionth time, or comparing your tree to that of Charlie Brown's are examples of other threads that could be made in the spirit of a new folder. ;p

See, that's what I was thinking with Christmas. Pretty much EVERYONE loves it and is always waiting for it. It's not one of those holidays only enjoyed by some people .Everyone would have something to post about. Hopefully we can get one made this year.

It would be a good place to host the ASMB Holiday Tree (or whatever it's called these days) where users give (post/link) gifts to others on the boards. Kind of like how now the masquerade ball is held in the Halloween folder.
