Well, whenever most of the Soul Reaper character bios are done, we can move on to other characters (like Arrancar and all the rest). I've got so much HTML code to prepare, though. Sigh. One of the cons of Bleach - too many characters!

Okay Helpers. I have a question for you all. I'm sure by now most of us are use to the Board upgrade. So what do you guys like and dislike about the upgrade? Also what do you guys miss out of the old boards?

As for dislikes:

• the new tracker was a step down
• the lagging was a real bummer.  I hope Lithium won't do anything to bog down the final version of IE9
• the little drop-down menu for the boards is underwhelming.  Being able to select a board by typing a few lettes was a bit neat

I like the quick reply addition, even though I don't use it nearly as much as I probably should. I wasn't a fan of the minimal-only forum index at first, but I've become used to it, and it's admittedly faster to scroll through all the folders. And the new color scheme is funky, too.

On the downside, the tracker being nerfed so hard is a major loss...between it and the awful new search function, it's essentially impossible to find old threads now, at least within the boards proper. And I think the new bookmarks system is a big step back too, since it doesn't separate bookmarked threads and posts and doesn't even list the date of the last post in a thread.

Like :

The Kudos thing. I'm one of those lurkers who doesn't quite like posting a pure " " for something that makes me laugh. Never did do the whole +1 thing.

The autosave feature. Now I don't necessarily have to worry about losing something long-winded.

Dislike :

The horrible board lagging that's plagued the place since the upgrade. Is there anything slower than dial-up? Why yes, yes there is. It's dial-up powered by Lithium.

The search. I honestly haven't been able to get that thing to work since it changed. I don't know if it's because it's completely messed up anyway or if the board lag causes the stuff that's supposed to make it work to not load properly.

Editing issues. Might not be something anyone else notices but when I edit stuff, the boards add extra break lines to the original post. Very irritating when you have to manually remove each one.

Miss :

The webcam. Couldn't watch it anyway but occasionally someone would think to post a link to a screen shot of something. Usually a butt however that was still something.

No complaints from me. If I had any initially, they're distant memories. The search function is a pain, but it always has been.

Kudos are a plus. Post autosaving is really helpful. And the spoiler function. I like that trackers now show a snippet of a post. Easily my favorite thing of all is the new look - how there's more contrast, and THAT BACKGROUND.

Though I must say I miss the bear a little. At least, I miss all the whining about the bear.

Also, as far as missing things goes, there's a hole in my heart where the verbose style main page used to be.

The autosave feature, quick reply, and the spoiler tag are the best things about the most recent board upgrade. On the other side of the coin, the thing I dislike the most is the search function. It's a mess. And not a hot one.

Tags are pretty useless, too, I feel.

And I don't particularly miss anything from previous versions (except a working search function, again).

Man, how'd I forget about the spoiler tags and autosave? Those are A-1 supar too. Though maybe not the autosave quite so much, since Firefox has already done that for a while now in the event of crashes.

Like - Quick response. I've been using that lately because it's quicker...ha Spoiler tags are cool too. And of course the uploading your own icons are great (except for the wait time but that can't be helped). Oh and I like how everyone can edit their old posts instead of only in an hours time.

Dislikes - No real dislikes

Old boards - Nothing I can think of at the moment

I'm so glad that we have autosave with no time limit. Before even with Firefox I would lose long posts, such as the character guide update, and have to start over entirely. It was a major pain. Now I can finish the post before the show comes on and just post it when I'm ready.

The worst thing is the search function. I didn't mind the old one, in fact I usually found what I was looking for. I don't even try to use this one.

Most of what I miss from past boards are users who no longer post.  That response is probably outside of the intended scope of your question, but it'smy  reaction to it.  I specifically miss Sylak and breakout2317, not that those names mean much people outside of those who read Comedy Discussion circa 2007.  I miss a lot of the now inactive ranters, even though I never directly communicated with them.  I also miss some of the KaptKrunch theme alts.  And Yellow7.

Oh wow. Looks like you changed your signature a bit? I can see it. Very nice. Also I can help with the Search box. It is not easy but, I can get what I want from it. Of course an easy search box would be great.
