This thread is for you to ask moderators why they did stuff.

Mostly it is for questions about specific actions they have taken regarding your Screenname (including ban status, sig alterations, or board feature adjustments to a specific account) or things they did to your threads (close, move, edit, etc)

Include as many details as you can with your question.  If it's about a ban, the correct spelling of the SN you are asking about helps a lot.  If it's about a thread, what folder it was in, the thread title, etc is always helpful.

If your question isn't answered immediately, be patient, mods have lives too.  If you haven't received an answer by the time the thread turns over to a new page, feel free to repost your inquiry (when doing so please cut and paste the details from your orignal post rather than just a short "what about me?" type deal, the more you can provide information wise, the better your chances of getting answered).

Stuff not to do in the thread:

Don't post conversationally, or post about somebody else's question, or post your opinion on a banned user or thread that was taken action upon.  There is another thread in the folder for general conversation about the boards and moderating, you can post extraneous comments there.  Also there's a "going for helper" thread in which you can converse with board helpers and ask them questions.

Don't use this thread as a "Report Abuse" option.  Use the Report Abuse feature for that, or PM a moderator.

Don't track board drama in here, this is specifically for information purposes only, for users who have questions about bans or thread actions to possibly get answers directly from the moderators that took the action.

Why did muse warn the SHOTTS thread for using this place to hook up?

There were some posts about maybe meeting up in New York (if I remember correctly).

Arranging any kind of meeting through the boards is a violation of the Terms of Use. If you think about it in terms of predators looking to hook up with someone the reason for this rule becomes more obvious.

it's right there where it always is toward the top of the page.  Defloated it because there were a lot of floats and the webcam thread is pretty much always up top anyway.  And there's no real event or anything going on with it at the moment.

Floating seemed to serve no real purpose other than overpopulating the float section.

doesn't the nature of that thread kinda allow it? I mean, to be in SHOTTS you have to be over 18, so it's not like kids are hooking up or anything. Also, New York is kind of a big place, so if there isn't a SPECIFIC place specified, should a general statement like "lets meet up in New York," be worthy of Mod action?

also, i haven't read the TOS in a while so maybe i'm just talking out of my pie hole.

I think the sticking point is the words "meet up".  Even if an exact location isn't mentioned at the time, the implication is that a specific site will have to be selected eventually.

Also, the suggestion to "meet up" smacks of suggested predation or scamming.  The recent Craig's List murders come to mind.

The TOS does not say that if you are over 18 it's ok to arrange meetings. It is not ok to arrange meetings of any kind on the boards. This really is a safety, and I think probably a legal issue as well.

Not to step on Muse's toes at all, but I just want to echo what she is saying: It's been made clear to the folks running that thread that no personal info is to be exchanged on the board in that thread. There are no special exceptions made in that regard for that thread. Obviously we don't moderate what happens off the board, but if it's posted on the board, it is ToS bound.
