[SwimMod_Luuv]

Knights of Swim is a message board game/ASMB rank path in which you gain experience points for everything from just plain posting on the board, to participating in Knights events, folder events, folder games, fighting monsters on the board, contributing to show and character wikis, contributing icons, and other fun stuff like that.

You get xp (eXperience Points) for doing all those things added to your SN.  Your rank then progresses based on the amount of xp you have.

As you gain rank, you also gain in-game abilities, priviledges, items, clues, power, followers, pets, and other things.

How to play:

Simply post in this thread that you'd like to sign up to be a Knight of Swim. 

It may take a few days or so, as the change has to be made by an admin. 

But you may begin participating immediately, as xp can still be awarded to you even with the rank path turned off.  When it is switched on, all xp you gained prior to that will automatically apply itself to your level/rank.

Checking in with this thread:  Upon reaching certain levles, players have to check in with this thread before they can progress futher.  This is primarily due to choices the character must make to continue.

These levels include:  Yeoman (lvl 4), Gentry (lvl 5), Squire (lvl 6)

Basically most levels after 4 players either gain some ability or must make some sort of choice, so it's always good to check in with this thread, especially if you're not sure how to progress.

Revised Level List:

01  Serf

02  Peasant

03  Commoner

04  Yeoman:  As a Yeoman, a player must declare a home folder by posting a thread there.  This can be any show folder in the Comedy or Action sections. 

05  Gentry:  Gentry must chose a path:  Book or Sword.

06  Squire:  Squire must chose a character or player to squire for.  This can be any main character from the player's home show folder, or another player that has reached the appropriate level (no one has reached that level yet).

07  Reeve:  At this level, a player receives their first special weapon or ability/spell from the character/player that is training them (the one they are squiring for)

08  Aristocrat:  Gain the ability to buy and trade items

09  Noble:  Nobles must establish a "Keep" thread in their home folder.  This thread will house their stats, items, pets, followers, etc.  It can also be used as a general discussion thread for whatever topics the Keep holder wishes to discuss.

10  Lord:  A Lord must design a flag, banner or coat of arms for their Keep.

11  Dominus:  May hire staff in the game.

12 Knight:  May take on Squires.

13 Ritter: May invent a series of 5 progressive abilities to teach Squires.

14+:  Not yet known/reached by any player.

I'm not sure I want to do PVP, just given the nature of like - how people might hold grudges against each other.

I might do like some online games do, and have maybe a specific arena type thread for pvp with specific rules maybe.

But players can't really attack each other directly at this point.

Obviously, the more involved you are, the faster you will rank up.

Basically it's kind of an open type thing.

People can get xp for just posting, and don't even have to participate in any rpg style stuff.

Or they can just check for Knights threads (which will be floated) in various folders that have instructions on how to participate in specific events, that will usually take place in those threads.  But sometimes will involve going elsewhere on the board too.

There are some detailed threads around, I locked them up to consolidate everything into one thread (this one).

But if you go the ATHF, Bebop, Sealab, Harvey Birdman, or Brak Show folders, look for the closed threads with the big long rules posts in them.  Those detail quite a bit of how the game works.

It's not as immediate as a videogame obviously.  For example, for my part I can only really log in once every morning to update combat threads and such.

But I'm going to try to set it up so Helpers can also run combats and things like that, which will hopefully help speed things up a bit.  But it's still going to be "message board" paced.

All Knights event threads should say "Knights Event" in the title, and generally they'll be floated so people can find them easily.  Some are ongoing.  Some aren't.

Also Humbug got called away today so he didn't have a chance to do the Knights stuff.

It'll probably be Monday sometime for new Knight activations.

But am still applying xp to new SNs, so it won't ultimately matter that much.  You'll still get any xp the same as if you'd been knighted sooner.
