The Alien. Brian isn't that funny of a character at all, while Rodger is some funny chsit.

As much of a fan I am of Family Guy and totally get Brian as a character, I prefer Roger in terms of being funny. There's no funny qualities about Brian other than he does make the often mistake of oingo-boingo'ing someone that isn't necessarily 'right' for him... for example, we know just how much he screwed up when he found out that he did the dirty with Quagmire's newly operated on father. Those moments are funny, because he always acts the smug character, the one with the best morals of the family, yet things like that happen and you can't help but laugh on his luck with the ladies. ~drabble.

When it comes to characters' standalone humor I'd say Roger. 

Brian's humor comes more from his interactions with other characters, he himself isn't really funny.

I would say Roger the alien. Brian used to be funnier I think but now it's touch and go they seem to put his character in more serious(if you can call it that) roles in the episodes. Roger on the other hand is a character usually thrown in specifically to ensue comedic antics, and make you laugh it would seem.

I've always considered Brian annoying... Actually, most characters on FG are annoying.

American Dad does have quite a few throw-away characters, but I'd honestly rather have that than a ton of annoying ones.

Brian became to politically motivated to be enjoyable. Although, I did like his bank vault episode.
