I think I'm getting "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" after I finish what I'm reading now. Then The Death Gate Cycle.

So much to read, so little time.

I encourage anyone who can to read Slapstick by Kurt Vonnegut.

This books got everything,  mutants, war, plaugue, fluxuating gravity, rich dysfunctional families, secret passage ways, child prodigys, mental institutions, single cell size Chinese people, quantum translocation, incest, presidential campaigns, communication with the dead, drug addiction, slavery, the collapse of civilization, mars, the kidnapped J.esus, the king of Michigan, Lonesome No More campaign buttons, and skyscraper national park.

Best book ever.

I don't know.  I've read two previous novels by Vonnegut and I didn't understand a single thing he was saying. But since you recommend it so highly I'll put it down on my to read list. :smileyindifferent:

No problem reading isn't for every one. Do you read magazines because we count them. I don't know about the others but I count some rpgs aswell, they can have more words then a novel some times.

Nice glad to see you're reading "Fellowship of the Ring", when you're done with the triology I suggest reading the Simarillion that's my favorite Tolkien book, FLCL's manga sounds sweet. When you finish with Saint Germain on Alchemy I would love to hear how it was.

I am currently reading The Man Who Ate The 747-Ben Sherwood.  This is one of my girlfriend's favorite books and I have to say that I am really enjoying it.  For all you Nicholas Sparks' fans, and fans of romance this is a quaint little story for you.  The story begins with a man name Smith, whose job it is to chronicle and witness people trying to break world records.  Feeling the heat from his bosses he sets out to find a truly spectacular feat to add to the Book.  He receives an anonymous letter from a boy in rural Nebraska who claims a man in his town is eating a 747 jumbo jet, piece by piece.  And he's doing it to impress the woman he loves.  Feeling that this is the feat that could save his job he sets out for Nebraska where he finds much resistance from the man eating the plane and the woman he loves.  I don't want to give it all away but this story is sugary sweet and a real feel good story (so far).  I'll let you know what I think of it when I finish.  Until then, happy reading!

The Silmarillion is great. Atleast the 3/4 of it that I read. A little confusing at times.(mostly the frequent use of different names for the same person)

I've read so much this past year...

  1. L'Assomoir - Emile Zola
  2. The Masterpiece - Emile Zola
  3. The Kill -Emile Zola
  4. Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett (2nd Time)
  5. Dream Hunters - Neil Gaiman
  6. Delta of Venus - Anais Nin
  7. Henry and June - Anais Nin (2nd Time)
  8. Green Wheat - Colette
  9. The Pure and Impure - Colette
  10. The Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey Eugenides
  11. Interview With The Vampire - Anne Rice (meh)
  12. The Vampire Lestat - Anne Rice (meh)
  13. The Story of the Eye - Georges Bataille (2nd Time)
  14. Belly Laughs - Jenny McCarthy (funny if you're pregnant, or have gone through pregnancy)

Next up.... Tropic of Cancer - Henry Miller

(note that I'm not counting all the books I've read to my daughter... I'm sure "American Girls" and "Junie B. Jones" books aren't going to appeal to anyone on THIS message board.  :smileyhappy:  )

Somehow it seems to fill my head with ideas- only I don't exactly know what they are! However, somebody killed something; that is clear, at any rate.
