Well, aside from the Knickers "joke" I think they're forgetting about the Whiskey Rebellion over new taxes to get rid of the national debt. 1791-1794 after the founding father's ditched the Articles of Confederation because they were UNABLE to levy taxes and pay for the GOVERNMENT.

Well I haven't listened to anything out of CPAC after the idiot a couple days back said that the Republican party would not compromise nor work with the Democrats if they were in power.

So, don't the douches realize that attitude is what has the country in the shape it is right now? Their arrogance and unwilling nature to compromise on anything.

Why exactly would the GOP giving up on minority voters be a bad idea, actually?  Obama's surrogates have already come out in the media and announced that they are pretty much not going to bother with white working class voters.  Obama himself explicitly identifies his base as "young people, African-Americans, Latinos, women."  If you're a white guy like me there really isn't a lot about Obama's platform or rhetoric that seems particularly designed to appeal to you.

His base. No one wins a general election with just their base. And what's a white guy like you? Because, "center-left coalition made up, on the one hand, of voters who have gotten ahead on the basis of educational attainment — professors, artists, designers, editors, human resources managers, lawyers, librarians, social workers, teachers and therapists" can include white guys. But I wouldn't want to bother with people who questioned my citizenship status either.
