On Monday, March 5, a group of locals and tourists united to save an estimated 30 dolphins from beaching themselves. The improvised rescue took place on the shores of Arraial do Cabo, Brazil, just north of the city of Rio De Janeiro.

Dolphins are smart, if they were trying to come on land they had a good reason.

I don't believe they are all jerks, but because dolphins are intelligent, they do have some degree of individuality. Which means some are likely jerks, and others aren't. There's evidence of dolphins attacking porpoises, and flinging seals, apparently because the dolphins are bored. I've also read where dolphins helped save drowning people and even fend of sharks.

Intelligence can cause an animal to do strange things. Take us. We can be altruistic and kind, and we can be savage and brutal. Hell, we can even be talking about the same person.

Still, I'm glad that people made the effort.
