As it turns out, I'm pretty selfish. I've been conditioned to always operate under the assumption that "if I don't do for me, no one else will". I've also been conditioned to think that thinking of others will only be a set back. Basically, my life has shown me why I should not be a team player. Now I have to reprogram myself so that I can adapt. Which isn't hard, since selfishness can be turned into team playing through logic and reason, and I can rationalize ANYTHING if I really want to. But, generally, I'm incredibly selfish.

Like, If I won the lottery, I'd donate as little as I could get away with to charities. Or, I'd only donate to charities after I've taken care of myself. (I'd only donate to education anyways. I don't care if people starve, but I don't want to be around stupid people)

How selfish are you?

I have my moments of selfishness like all humanity, but they are tempered from having a father who was selfish in life.

Don't get me wrong, my dad had his good and when I seen his bad I decided never to let it out in myself.

I care for others whom I have in my life more than myself, but I still have my moments.

Why did that make you feel that selfishness is bad for you? Could you elaborate?

I think we are all basically selfish but I care about others and generally care for my family before I care for myself

I purposely hyperventilate because I want the air all to myself.

People start talking about things that happen in their lives and I immediately interrupt them and talk about me.

And that's how I know I'm selfish. There are very very few people that I would put before myself. Really, I've learned a life philosophy of always putting myself first. You can't really make other people happy all the time, but you can always do something for yourself.

If I tried to put others before myself, I'd probably end up self destructing.

An ex told me that I don't form relationships out of selfishness. Still don't know what she meant by that.

I'm probably moderately selfish, but I wouldn't guess much more than average.

I'm not above helping others within reason, though.

I let people talk. If only because I want people to have as little information about as possible, and I want to know as much as I can about them.

Oh, I love helping others. I've decided to dedicate my life to it, through a career in psychology. But it's only for my own gratification. I feel good when I help others. That's why I do it.

If it comes at too severe a cost to myself, I probably wont do it.

I was thinking more along the lines of lending someone a hand to lift something that's heavy ar lending a friend a dollar.

Simple things like that.
Everyday kind of things.

I hate doing things like that. I don't have enough money to be giving it all away, and even if I have the time to help someone out with something, I still don't want to. If I have to go and help someone with a task, I'm going to be upset. I'll do it, but I wont like it. Not one little bit.

When it comes to my kids, it's whatever........You know, until they start making me want to put slugs in their laptop.

My wife is almost on that level, but I don't buy her stuff that I hate, like weave, fake nails, phones, and costume jewelry.......Anything else I usually give her the" yeah, right" look, then go out and get it.

Family members can suck it, especially her's......I have never met a group of unemployed mofos that think just because I work all the time, and try to give my family nice things that "He know he has $20, it won't hurt him"........Seriously, kiss my ass, and wait for your monthly crazy check.

Strangers, if I deem them worthy......Like they don't give the the ass hole vibe, I'll help out if I see they came up short at the register, or if they ask for a dollar or two........Though if you have the audacity to ask for say $10, then you're making a career of this, and phukk you.

As far as charities I do toys for tots every year, and I buy a shamrock/ribbon/heart, or whatever thing people want you to buy to support whatever type of diseases.

You are far more generous than I, sir. But, perhaps it is because you can afford to be. I have been poor forever, so I am used to being cheap and not giving anyone any money. I don't even buy people christmas or birthday gifts.

It depends on what you mean to me. If I really care about you, I would give you the shirt off my back..otherwise I MIGHT help you..if you are trying as well. I feel bad for the hungry and homeless and if I ever got rich would help out people as much as I could without harming my own well-being..other than that...eff you. I have to live to ya know and unlike me some people could give a #### about anyone else.

i don't think i'm selfish. i try to do for others when i an able because when i need help people do for me.

i love doing for my family and friends. i hold them the most dear because i don't know or talk to all of my family members because they are dispersed. my sister basically raised me, so she is my mother in my eyes.
