It says the chance of antidepressants being the cause is small. But it makes you think how fuuuuuudgeed up it would be if it were true..

I don't think anti-depressants themselves are the cause, my guess is it is repeated stress while pregnant that is the major contributing environmental factor (though there are some genetic factors too) and anti-depressants are linked to high stress, so that's why this correlation was found. Women who are clinically depressed encounter undue stress on a sometimes daily basis, and this stress causes a physiological reaction that makes the baby stressed too. And when the baby is unduly stressed so early in it's life on a regular basis it can damage it's social development as the baby becomes more inwardly focused on dealing with the pain of the stress instead of properly wanting to interact with the world and others.

Seriously doubt its a significant factor there the number of Autism cases being recorded started increasing before anti-depressant/anxiety drugs were being widely prescribed. Hell I'd be willing to bet that statistical correlation emerged as a result of undiagnosed people with high-functioning Autism/Apspergers syndrome being more likely to be prescribed anti-depressant/anxiety drugs than the rest of the population.
