Leaving gas oven on

what are the odds of something bad happening from leaving a gas oven on, say, all night?

i'm under the impression that for chaos there would have to be something in the oven, or somehow the flame would have to go out.

i ask because moron roommate has left the oven on, yet again. and was fully ready to go to bed with it left on. aside from the gas bill, i'd like to know what all i can chew her out for.

as in the oven smoking? there's nothing in the oven, so it has nothing to burn.

or do i smoke? yes. but not indoors. and besides, that's only a fear if the flame has gone out. right?

Ah ok... Yeah, I was asking if you smoke. Yeah I don't think any crazy Funfetti could happen if the flame is still on. It might get hot as Funfetti in the place though. Bitch about that.

she does. all the Funfetti time.

i just wanted to know if she could die. then next time i'd just leave the house for the night when she leaves it on.

You're right. Unless there's something in the oven to burn, or unless the flame miraculously goes out and you end up flooding the house with natural gas, there's probably not going to be a problem. Ovens are built to more-or-less contain heat, for hours at a time, so you're relatively safe.

oh no. sorry. i think she'll live through this whole oven ordeal, unless you want to maybe shove her in there and then leave it on over night.

why do you need a reason to chew her out. I'm sure she'd be happy will you chewing her out for no reason.

You could suffocate perhaps. If you had no outside air circulation and your oven is crappy and inefficient it could create carbon monoxide. If it was mostly carbon dioxide you'd probably be awoken by your own coughing. I don't know how gas ovens work but i'm assuming it's self regulating.

I has car.

I think you should hit her for leaving the oven on - no one does that.

My aunt's light in her oven went out and she had no idea, so the house wound up flooding and some guy came over and explained to her that she totally could've blown up if she continued doing what she was doing with attempting to light it.

Awesome.

My sister tried to blow up the apartment like that while I was living with her. She's maybe not the most sensible person, sometimes.

I think I would ban her from using the oven. She can't burn the place down with a microwave.

No, I mean that like when you fall off your bike and say "I tried to eat the pavement". But, she did yell at me for giving her a stern talking-to after turning the gas off and opening the windows. That wasn't very nice.
