Here's what I do know.  Reagan was able to inspire a country that was completely down for the count and, as a result carried every state in the union except for Minnesota (Mondale's home state).  While I like Obama and wish him the best, he simply does not inspire the confidence that Reagan did.

I think you hit on something important

More and more people are loosening confidence in Obama he is great at campaigning and talking the talk but in the end the leadership qualities don't seem to be there. The oil spill has brought this about more than any thing else and out into the open. More people are seeing someone who talks well but who's policies are not the hope and change they voted for but that is just an opinion.

Not really. The results are pretty typical of these types of polls.

XD OMG so much wrong with that, communists smashed themselves; economic boom? We must've lived in different 1980s; good person? I don't think good people willingly and knowingly fund terroristic contras or trade weapons with the Iranians; and smart, wow, just wow, 10/10.

Reagan did nothing, he made a bunch of middle class white idiots feel good by "taking back the country", which meant record defict spending to fund defense contractors, union busting and the beginning of outsourcing which took away all the idiot middle class' jobs, deregulation, and he made a lot of speeches that amounted to nothing, but gave the warm fuzzies to the afore mention idiot white middle classers.

Reagan had to pass large taxes and keep interest rates high to remove all the

excess cash from the system, excess cash he inherited from Carter.

Hey this whole "Blame the guy who came before me no matter how long I've been in office" thing

Actually, its to show how you guys are dumping on Obama for the same things you praise Reagan for.

As for "blaming the last guy", it's not like there aren't legitimate reasons for doing so. In a rape case, you blame the guy who commited the rape, not the police officer who arrested him.

As Micheal Moore put it, "Big Business just hired the best salesman they could get, to push their agenda."

Don Regan who ran Merril Lynch was greatly responsible for Reagan's campaign. He was the purse strings behind Reagan. When Reagan won he made Don Reagan his Treasury Secretarty, So he could gut regulations on Financial Institutions. He later became Chief of Staff, so he had even more power, until he had to step down due to his involvement in the Iran-Contra Scandal.

If Don Regan wasn't really in charge, how could he have the power to tell Reagan to "speed it up" during his speeches?

Here's the problem: The guys you're referring to don't watch Olbermann and Maddow. They might as well be talking to brick walls, and going by their ratings, I'm sure they are.

Also, that is one of the worst and most offensive analogies I've ever seen.

You're setting just as much of a double standard as you say anyone else is enjoying too.
Praising Obama for being like Reagan, yet bashing Reagan for being Reagan.
I think you would instead be bashing on Obama for being like Reagan instead of saluting him for being one of the presidents you despise most.

@Hong_Kong_Phooey: I was little during the Reagan years, but my mother and father both prospered during that time, the only other time I could say that was during the Clinton years when everything was pure golden. It's been pure sh!t ever since in the prosperity aspect.

I had my first "real" job during the Reagan years. I made $3.35 an hour.

I don't remember the Reagan era very "fondly"...

The reagan era was the beginning of wage stagnation, union busting, outsourcing, and increasing use of illegal immigrant labor, it wasn't what I'd call an economic boom.  And my mother and father prospered during the Reagan era, not because of Reagan, but because of my dad's union railroad job.

My father did great during the 80's, but he had two things going

A. He was part of the federal government, so with Reagan expanding it he was never out of an opportunity to find work in the system.

B. For a good majority of Reagan's administration, he was in Germany and Italy. My father could not stand the man, so he took the opportunity in part to get out of the US, go to countries where it was better, and enjoy the 80's away from the idiocy of the United States

All I remember from the Reagan Era were crappy jobs, and an asanine drug war.

Oh, and Iran-Contra...

And "Governemt Cheese"...

And all of the Air Traffic Controllers being fired, and everyone being afraid to fly due to the "scab" workers they hired in their place...
