Show me your junk, and I'll show you mine

[ Edited ]

So over the years I've collected a lot of junk. Most of it just amassed because I never trade stuff away. Some things because I was actively trying to collect them.

What stuff do you guys look for, or just have oodles of things you've gathered?

List what things you guys have and how much (or approximately). If you want to explicitly list what you've got go for it, but put it in a spoiler thing.

Band shirts ~ 62 (with pictures of shirts I could find)

Spoiler

I don't collect much of anything.

I do collect ticket stubs; from airplanes, concerts, movies, buses. I like them because I like to remember where I was at a specific place in time, and where I was going. They're small, so they don't take up much space at all.

I do that too. I kind of stopped caring since so many of the stuff I started going to didn't have tickets anyway.

I figure, hey, it's not like I'm gonna end up on hoarders with a house full of ticket stubs.

And if I do, ####. That'd mean I'd gone a lot of places and done a lot of things. I'd be okay with that.

Legos probably.
I collected a lot of legos as a kid.
None are really their original sets anymore.
I was minecraft before minecraft was a thing.

As far as albums and EPs...if I go both digital and physical copies I have way too many to count. I bought like 98% of them. The rest were gifts.

300+ CD's, about 20 airshow/fly-in T-shirts (the oldest is from '98), those Hess trucks they sell every XMas going back to '93, five yo-yos (they were big when I was in high school), about 50 SNES, PS1 and PS2 games altogether, most of the Calvin & Hobbes collections (think I'm only missing 2 or 3 of them and my brother has those).

As I mentioned before, I rarely get rid of the stuff I have. So none of the SNES games are for sale (sorry). I find them by stopping buy any local store periodically tha would sell them. I doubt I would sell them for any less that you'd buy them from there. Most of the games haven't changed in price since I bought them either. Except earthbound, a version where saves still work (like mine) goes for over $100 on ebay. Making it my most valuable video game.

I have a bunch of Michael Jordan memorabilia (cards, framed pictures, posters, cardboard stand-up, limited edition watch). I was collecting Game Informer magazines, I need to re-subscribe though. I guess that's it.

So my collection is only 3 at the moment.
Which isn't much of a collection at all.
I have tons of shot glasses though >_> But they are all put up in storage.

Totally bumping this, because someone teased me yesterday about some of the wine corks I've kept for no good reason. There are 51 corks in that photo. I have another 2 overflowing containers (same size as the one in the photo) of corks.

Last September, I got rid of all the corks I'd collected—I mean several shoeboxes full—and tried to break my habit of collecting them. Didn't work.

The person who teased me said it's crazy to collect that many wine corks in an 11-month time span. I just laughed that off, but then I thought about it: 51 corks per container x 3 containers = 153 corks, /11 months = 13.9 bottles of wine a month. That's... huh.

But see, I cook with wine too, and I never cook with a wine I wouldn't drink. Plus, I sometimes take bottles of wine to other people's dinner parties and to BYOB restaurants, and I share them with people who come to my place, so see, it's not just me drinking all that wine. So there!

Maybe I'll take photos of other collections later today. Most of my teapots are down in my storage bin, so I'd have to unpack 'em for photos. Hmm.

Hmm.

That's a cool collection. Much more endearing than rocks.

These are real men doing real things.

Bumped because I'm curious to know what you guys have.

Books - I don't trade or donate any so my collection has spread to three bookcases. I still have my fear street and nancy drew books.

Shot glasses or mugs from every state I visit.

Glass lamps - Most of them are colored glass so they're more pretty than they are practical.

Metal lunch boxes - Nightmare Before Christmas, Naruto, Noir, Betty Boop, and Wall-E so far. Someday I will have the Star Wars and Sailor Moon ones.

Anime and manga

Giles: Don't taunt the fear demon.
Xander: Why, can he hurt me?
Giles: No, it's just... tacky.
