That's easy, COLBERT 2016!

Followed up by an anti-prohibition initiative campaign in all of the states that have them.

set it in the bank and live off the interest.

actually do things I WANT TO DO, like learn a couple more languages, learn to play a few musical instruments, travel.

set up a charity for needy/sick kids, or donate to charitites carrying out research for childhood diseases.

If these kids find out that their hero has had sex, their heads will explode.

I would go to school.

I like cities too much to do what you'd do. And I've already tried isolating myself off from the rest of humanity. Apparently, we're social creatures and we need other people to survive. Otherwise we go insane.
No, you really can't do that.

You understand that rabbit stew is delicious right? The only thing you would be doing is helping me secure some nutritional needs in the event there were a catasrophic devaluation of the dollar.

Assuming this is $100 mil after taxes, I'd do the following:

  • Pay off all my debt, and then my family's debts so they can live comfortably. Put about $5 mil in a family trust specifically for my parents and brother.
  • After that, quit my job and move. Go back to school, get my Master's. Acquire basic fluency in a couple of other languages. Just in case.
  • Buy a closed missile base and build my self-sustaining dream house/fortress, complete with private airstrip, hangar, shooting range, greenhouse, and 3-5 paid support staff (who would reside onsite).
  • Buy and restore about 10 WWII and Korean Era piston-engine warbirds for the purposes of conservation and leasing out for events, and a Beech Staggerwing for personal usage to fly around the country.
  • Invest in a hedge fund. Donate about $50K to charity per year.
  • Buy a few cars. I'm thinking 2008 Dodge Viper, 1969 Boss 302 (or 2011 Boss 302), 1995 RX-7 FD, Infiniti G37X (or something similar) for daily use and a Subaru wagon (Outback or Forester) for winter. One used 1/2 ton Ford pickup for around the complex.
  • Tour of Europe, India, Japan, Australia/NZ.
  • Some usual rich person bullsh!t, i.e. extensive music/gun/film collection/library, pet bobcat, a small business of some sort, the occasional Roman orgy. No bling, no celebs.
  • Maybe some modest political advocacy on behalf of whoever isn't Congress or Wall Street, if I can be bothered to care at that point.
  • (optional) Get married, start a family; barring that, adopt. My kid(s) won't touch any inheritance until deemed fit after 20 years of life as honest proletariat.
The made-up stories are all about brilliant handsome rich suave people who almost get away with it; the real stories are about stupid, mean pigs who confess the minute they get brought into the interrogation room. That's an alternative I'd approve of, cept I'd still keep my mountain hideaway. I would have no problem at all studying philosophy and sciences after which retreating to solitude once again to reflect on them.

Oh, if I had that kind of money, I'd definitely set up a mountain hideaway, stocked for survival and comfort. But I'd probably only go there for vacations or for worst case scenarios.

I'd spend most of my life going to school and learning. Which I'll be doing anyways.

Move, buy a house... anywhere else.
Maybe western Maryland, although I have no real knowledge of western Maryland.
But somewhere that isn't a seaside tourist trap.
You always hear about Maryland and crabcakes, but nothing about the landlocked parts.
Probably my real interest in it besides the fact that it's still close enough to my family to visit easily while being too far for them to visit often.

The house would need to have a large property and not be in any main neighborhood, but still close enough to a larger city so that there's stuff nearby to do.
Nothing worse than living in a small town like I do now who's big business is the supermarket and convenience stores. -_-

Anyway, I need to live CLOSE to a city to have easy access to all it's amenities, but live far enough away that it's quiet and I have limited neighbors (who, in all likelyhood, are probably wealthy enough to have similar houses).

Of course, before that, I'd spread some wealth to the rest of my family so they can not be in debt or just take it easier.
Here's some money to make you all comfortable, now leave me alone, I'll be back for major holidays. :smileytongue:

Pay off family members' debts. Buy my sister a house. Fix my house. Invest most of it in new businesses. Buy a couple million worth of stock. Maybe fund some indie films.

Pay off my debts and set up my folks so they'd never want for anything again.  Then I'd go off the radar, randomly showing up in towns to visit Children's Hospitals across the US and pay off all the medical bills for everyone.  Maybe set up a company to expose fraud/overcharging by hospitals.

I'd never be working again. Though I'd be donating a lot to charity. I'd even invest some of it so I had a ridiculous yearly income.

and you know what I'd do with most of that yearly income? Donate to charity. I would also help out some family and a couple of friends. I'd also probably randomly find families who had nothing and help them.
