so, after the smokey and queso debacle, me and blue are allowing people to stay with us again. blue and i are still arguing about letting them keep their cat and i have a feeling it's going to get ugly. i like the cat and don't want to see it back in a shelter, he doesn't care. it's not hat he's an animal hater, he isn't cruel to them or anything. he just... doesn't love them the way i do. anyways, i just can't let my nephew and his girlfriend be out on the street. especially since she's pregnant. i just can't. so yea, more people living with us. *sigh* it was nice having my house to myself for a few weeks. i just wanna run away. so, babbling, if i disappear, you'll know why. i either lost it and went on a killing spree or i ran away and changed my name. i'm gonna go over there and crawl into the fetal position and rock myself back to sleep. /blog post

Ugh, I have always found you never know how much you can despise someone till they move in your house.
Had a best friend who killed himself two years ago this summer I let stay with me because he was on the street, wound up being a nightmare.

i know it's gonna be a nightmare. he stayed with us before and it ended badly. the only reason we even entertained the idea is because of his girlfriend. she's incredibly sweet and she's pregnant. she just lost her job because her boss is a dicktruck, so they had to move out of their condo. he works, but he doesn't make much. without her paycheck, they can't afford the condo and since they have crazy rules, they had to move yesterday. they're coming here today and we're gonna tell them they can stay but there are gonna be a ####load of rules. and they gotta be in their own place before summer is over. baby is due in september and i'm sorry but i cannot have an infant here. i'll end up killing myself. i love my kids but if i hadn't had them when i was young, they probably wouldn't be here. my patience is not what it used to be.

I dunno, if it were me and I know this is going to sound heartless but pregnant or not their problem is theirs alone.

But since you're going to let them stay instead of being a sh!tload of rules how about making a definite "GTFO" date. Gives them a goal to work for and an agreed upon departure date.

i really don't want them to stay. i already have one extra person living here. i don't want two more. but i just can't let them be out on the street. i wish i could but i really can't. i couldn't sleep at night if i did that .

In situations like this, at least for me, if you don't declare a "get out date" the person is naturally going to assume that the invite is indefinite. Once there's a clear understanding that they have to be out at a certain date it's usually enough for them to get a fire under their ass and do something about thier own situation for themselves. In the smokey/queso situation I think since there was no timeline for getting out they were going to get comfotable and assume their place is in your home.

Maybe it's just me, but it sure seems like you're letting them stay for the wrong reason. Maybe guilt? You should never feel guilty about not opening your home to someone if you feel like you aren't in a position to let them in. Charity is a wonderful thing, but it should never come at the cost of your well being.

One more thing, if you let this girl stay until she's given birth then you're stuck with them indefinitely. I'd make it a point that they have to be out way before she drops.
