She.... has emotional problems. And clearly didn't understand the theory of evolution. The Theory of Evolution doesn't kill people. People kill people. Hell, based on the back story in the youtube link, they were discussing sexual selection. Which isn't about killing, but about how females select males based off certain traits which might cause a trait to be selected for that actually can make it harder for a male to survive. The peacock example in the backstory is a classic example

She needs serious help. And of course, the comments for the video do not fail to be some of the worst examples of what humanity has to offer.

From what I've read, she was deeply affected by the Trayvon Martin murder, which would explain why she would ask such a question out of nowhere. She does need help though, and I hope she gets it.

That's because that question has the same answer as "Why is gravity yellow?" There isn't an answer, it is a nonsense question.

And the article collaborates this. And you are right, she clearly needs some help. It is one thing to get heated in the course of a discussion. It is another to begin to attack people because you are upset with the lack of an answer.

Upon further reflection, I'm wondering if her emotional state had led her to get on some meds which she reacted badly to.  A friend of mine took a new medication for her cardiac problems and whoa...not a pretty picture.  She became suddenly beligerant and hostile just like this woman, getting up in people's faces (including a security guard where she was living) and screaming incoherently at them.  So maybe she'd actually gotten something from a doctor for her distress over the Martin shooting and this was the result.

Or as someone else suggested, she could be an undiagnosed diabetic.  Another anecdotal story, before my mom was diagnosed, I remember her going completely batshit crazy and attacking a table with a butcher knife, stabbing it repeatedly and screaming at it until my dad got the knife away from her.  Turned out her blood glucose was over 600.

Diagnosing a problem based off a video is tricky. The only thing that is clear is that she was in some disturbed mental state. It wasn't like the professor egged her on, or pushed her over the edge, or anything. She just exploded. It was out of no where.

So, any of those could be possible. Or it could be something else entirely.

I'm not qualified to be diagnosing even if I had more to go on than a video.  Just speculating on possibilities.

What's unfortunate is that we're past the time when people could have their breakdowns in relative private.  This will follow her everywhere for a long time, even if it turns out to be caused by something she had no control over, since that won't be as publicized.
