I think cases like this just get more traction as they are likely to be reported, the reports more likely to be read by a reporter looking for a story to feed the machine and bit lower inhibitions all around.

And it is possible the kid is just unstable and lying.

I dunno, I've heard stories from family that graduated in the 70s and 80s that are very similar to a lot of things I saw go down in high school.

So I mean, I wouldn't rule out that something similar has happened before. More than once.

I mean, seriously, why don't we do that with bad kids instead of sending them to jail? If they haven't killed anyone, they should just be forced into service of some kind WITHOUT PAY.
