Wrong, the most badass Hollows are the espada.
Not quite. The most badass PURE Hollows are the Vasto Lordes. Espada are Arrancar and therefore have been altered by Aizen. But I have every reason to believe that Starkk, Barragan, and Halibel, and (Espada #1-#3) were indeed Vasto Lordes before they got "Arrancarized".
Now I'm not really sure about the other Espada...
#4: Ulquiorra - If he has Fracciones, we haven't seen them yet. Still, he's able to go toe-to-toe with Ichigo, so I'm willing to go out on a limb and call him an erstwhile Vasto Lord.
#5: Nñoitora - His animal instinct makes me believe that he was an Adjucha prior to "Arrancarization". Plus, did he ever manifest Fracciones? Oh yeah, he had those toolish bodyguards. Fairly unmemorable.
#6: Grimmjow - Well, we know he ate his friends, also Adjuchas and later manifested them as Fraccionés, But we don't know if that act alone made him ascend to the level of Vasto Lord prior to "Arrancarization"
#7: Zommari - This boring turd was probably just an Adjucha. No Fracciones to boot.
#8: Szayel Aporro Grantz - Well, he had Fracciones, but they were rather undeveloped compared to those of Espada #1-#4 and #6. For all his freakiness, I'm going with Adjucha.
#9: Aaroniero Arruruerie - He is identified as the only Espada who's also a Gillian in the series. No guesswork there.
#10: Yammy - This guy acted as Ulquiorra's henchman early in the Arrancar arc. We never see his Fracciones, so I'm calling him a former "Adjucha."
