15 isn't out.

VIZ listed it as Oct. 3

I saw it on amazon.com but it's the wrong date.

Also Borders gets them at least a week early on some occasions so check on the 19th or 26th.

I know this because I bought manga from the place I work today. *snickers*

So...how about a new topic?

Did anybody else notice how Rukia's outfit changes when she transfers her powers to Ichigo? I'd say more about it, but that would involve spoilers. **bleep**, it's tough to discuss a series after only one episode and not give any spoilers. Well, we can revisit this topic in, like, 30 weeks....and maybe again in like 60 weeks. There are 2 key points that won't be revealed until then. Oh, the suspense! :smileyvery-happy:

I noticed that Rukia's clothing changed.  It seems kind of weird for clothing to change like that, like it's part of who you are rather than just something you put on.

But Ichigo had taken away so much of her power... Maybe then Rukia was simply empty and "pure?"

That's a very interesting thought.  I can't remember exactly what words they used to describe Rukia's power in the anime but in the manga Rukia says that she will give Ichigo half of her soul reaper powers, and then uses the words, "my dark force."

So she had died after losing an eye? Or was her eye covered in blood for just one part?

I think what samurai_omega is saying here is that in the manga it's Karin, not Yuzu who manages to crawl to Ichigo's room to warn him.  Her right eye in the manga is open but clearly blood has run down from a head wound.  Her left eye is closed.  I'm certain that she's not dead because she briefly tells Ichigo what happened and that he should run away.

I mean the girl in the beginning. I don't know exactly how she died, but I'm assuming it was an accident of some sort, but blood is covering her left eye area of here face. I might show a pic. Might.

Oh I see what you mean.  It's not clear that it's what killed her but her left eye is completely covered in blood, which appears to still be running down onto her dress.

I thought by "little girl" you meant the young girl that had died and was seen throughout the episode.

And killing off a family member in the first episode would be rude! Though, of course, I know it's happened before x.x

As much as I don't like taking notice of this thread, it's somehow got a green reply arrow on the folder icon, so I inadvertantly pop in here every now and then, and all I have to say is... did anyone stop to consider some might read the manga eventually, and might find these lists of differences as spoilers?

How? Except for filler, the Bleach manga and anime follow the exact same storyline, besides these few small changes made. They do nothing significantly different, at least nothing I would consider a spoiler. If you watch the anime, you've already spoiled yourself on the manga.

There aren't many things in the manga up until the point the show goes on filler that are much different from what is in the anime.

You have a point, but so far, the only manga discussion has been the chapter that the premiere episode was based on.  As long as that remains the case, we shouldn't have any problems.

But, don't you think that some would rather read it themselves, than have the simliarities of it to the anime being presented to them? Whether or not it's basically the same I don't think really matters.  Yes, they could stay out of this thread, but you'd **bleep** if they'd make another thread and it would be alienating another person to bounce ideas off of.  To discuss with.

Not to nit-pick, but I can see where rpgamer is coming from here.  This will probably be my only post in here.  I like to read more than post.

You're welcome to notify the mods of spoilers.  It seems to me that they are taking a pretty lenient position on Bleach spoilers because there are things (like character names) in this thread that I've reported but those posts were not edited or deleted.  I can understand your concern and I'm not sure how long I'll go along with the manga posts myself.  But you might start a no spoiler manga thread.  As far as I know the only manga discussion going on is in a thread that has spoilers.  If a thread like that gets going I will ask that all manga discussion move to that thread.

1) samurai_omega clearly marks his posts when he posts the differences, so if anyone dosen't want to read them, they can skip over them fairly easily.

2) Some people may not want to read the manga, but want to know the differences anyway.

I don't see any problem in someone creating a Bleach Manga thread to discuss the American release of the manga.  In fact, I think it has already been done.

Well, as it turns out, there is no American Bleach Manga thread.  At least the search I ran didn't turn one up.

I couldn't find one either when I started reading the manga.  I'm kind of surprised that one hasn't been made yet.  While I can see both sides about the manga, I like Ghost's idea of just seeing how things go and moving all manga discussion to a US release thread if one is made.

You know, it's pretty cool to see how people analyze Bleach. I never wondered about any of this stuff because 1) I'm not that observant, so I just don't notice things most of the time 2) I didn't start watching Bleach until the anime was at about episode 40 or 50, so I was able to just watch the episodes back to back and have most questions answered for me before I would think to ask them.

I also find it very difficult to not answer a lot of these questions with spoilers. I mean, when you know the answer but you're not allowed to tell anyone, it just makes you want to tell someone even more. It's just like keeping any other secret.

As for the little ghost girl with the bloody eye(in the manga), I think they mentioned that she was killed in the street where those flowers were left. It was an accident, I think. Maybe hit by a car or something. I'd have to watch it again to jog my memory.

One thing I just realized is that they never explain in the first episode what happened to Ichigo's body when he becomes a shinigami. I mean, he has to run himself through with Rukia's Zanpaku-to in order to become a shinigami. There's no blood on his
Shihakushou until Fishbone D bleeds on it, so he must not have a wound anymore. Has he been magically healed?

Tune in to [adult swim] Sunday(Saturday night) at 12:30 to find out :smileywink::smileyvery-happy:

(for those who are new to Bleach, shinigami = Soul Reaper, Shihakushou = Shinigami uniform, and Fishbone D = the hollow Ichigo fights)

One explanation is that since it was just a pure and simple power transfer, if it worked as planned, Ichigo would simply transform into a Shinigami. If not...SWORDED! It didn't seem like he had to pull out his new sword from his chest (that would kinda hurt), and his new duds and right-size scabbard kinda popped out of nowhere. Maybe we'll find out more about this later on in the series.

Yes, I can understand how hard this is.  You must pretend that this episode is the ONLY one you've seen.  If need be watch just that one again so you don't inadvertently spoil or hint.  In fact, hinting is much harder to guard against than spoiling.  To avoid hinting you should leave off the last 2 sentences of the post.  The definitions are ok.

One of the things I like about the first episode is the dramatic change that comes over Ichigo when he becomes a soul reaper.  We know that he's brave.  After all, he was willing to sacrifice himself for his family, but now he has the means to fight back and he makes good use of it.

I've been saying that for the past week. I think they're waiting until more characters make their premier - which will be pretty much complete by episode 2 and 3.
