Shūsuke Amagai was the captain of squad 3, replacing Gin Ichimaru. He was a calm and collected man with purple hair and a scruffy face. Amagai taught his squad to work together to get the job done. He seemed innocent at first and eventually gained the squad's full trust. However, he secretly held a grudge against Captain Yamamoto for killing his father, so he concocted a plot to kill him. When he discovered that Yamamoto was forced to kill his father, Amagai realized he had made a serious error and took his own life.
Shūsuke's zanpakuto was Raika. His Bankai was Raika Goen Kaku. It was a fire-based zanpakuto with a hook at the end. He used his Bakkoto, which negates soul reapers abilities, to get the edge in the battle with Yamamoto.
Trivia: A running gag in the arc is that even the tiniest bit of alcohol will make Shūsuke hammered.
Makoto Kibune joined squad three after Shūsuke Amagai became captain. Kibune and Amagai worked together in a patrol squad before joining Squad 3. Early in the plot, Kibune takes a villainous role by messing with Izuru Kira's head and making him doubt himself. He was part of Amagai's larger plan, although Kubune's personal goal seemed to be to get as powerful as he could. His goal was foiled and Kibune was swallowed by his Bakkoto when Izuru Kiro defeated him.
Kibune's zanpakuto is Reppu, a melee-type composed of three large blades connected by a pole. Using the power of his Bakkoto, half of which was on Reppu and the other half in his possession , Kibune could levitate Reppu and use it as a very large and powerful projectile. The levitation had it's limit, however, when Kira was able to make it so heavy that Kibune was unable to levitate it, and was swallowed by the Bakkoto when trying.
Kenryū is one of the guards and caretakers, along with Enryū, of Princess Rurichiyo. He seems to be the leader of the two and has raven black hair. Kenryū is usually a bit cold to most people, save Enryū and Rurichiyo. He comes to Ichigo for help with protecting Rurichiyo because of the assassins after her. He would give his life for Rurichiyo. When Rurichiyo's enemies are defeated, he returns to his life as the caretaker of his princess.
Kenryū's Zanpakutō is Benishidare. When release, flowers bloom on the blade. The flowers make a pollen that blooms flowers on the enemies blade, making it useless. However, if the pollen is blown away the flowers go away. He can also use the petals to escape, or transform them into needle-like energy that pierces and pins the opponent.
Enryū is one of the guards and caretakers of Princess Rurichiyo, along with Kenryū. He was thought to be a mute, talking with unusual signs that only Kenryū can decipher. It is later revealed that he can talk, but has an extremely high pitched voice that he is ashamed of. He has a shaven head, with one strip of hair in a zig-zag pattern, like a mohawk. He would give his life to protect Rurichiyo. When the assassins after Rurichiyo are defeated, he returns to his life with Kenryū as caretaker of his princess.
Enryū mainly uses his large stature as his weapon. His defense-type Zanpakutō is Daichimaru. It takes the form of two large stone fists. When he punches the ground he makes stone rise up and trap, or protect, the target.
The next section of the character guide below is dedicated to the Visoreds - characters who have attained the powers of both the Soul Reapers and Hollows.
Hiyori Sarugaki is a hot tempered Visored. Despite her short stature, she is really strong. She is usually seen together with fellow Visored Shinji Hirako.
In the Turn Back The Pendulum arc, it was revealed she was the former lieutenant of Squad 12. She did not get along well with Urahara, and even confronted him in a fight. Urahara never retaliated. He later entrusted her with aiding in the investigation of the vanishing souls in the Rukon district. She was injured by a Hollowfied Kensei, but Shinji came to her rescue. Unfortunately, Hiyori Hollowfied at that moment. She was then cut down by the traitor, Tōsen, who was already working for Aizen.
It was Hiyori who sent Shinji to try and get Ichigo to join the Visoreds. And in due time, Ichigo sought them out and partook in their training to control his Hollow self. Hiyori, not knowing how strong Ichigo really was, challenged him to a fight, forcing his inner Hollow out. The vicious strength of Ichigo's Hollowfied form caught her off guard and she was only saved from severe injury by her fellow Visoreds.
Kensei is a tall man with short light grey hair, several piercings, and a tattoo with the number 69 on his chest. Kensei is also serious individual who is easily annoyed and short tempered. His Hollow mask resembles a hockey mask with six eye holes.

Mashiro Kuna

Mashiro was first introduce with the other visoreds when Ichigo wanted to learn how to control his hollow powers. While Ichigo was in training, we learn that Mashiro held her mask on for 15 hours on her first try without problems. She seems to complain about small, unnessary things like when Orihime was brought to Hagi so he could repair Tsubaki. She has green hair, wears a white body suit with orange boots, gloves and scarf and goggles on her head.
Mashiro is a former soul reaper and was the lieutenant of the 9th squad. Her former captain was Kensei Muguruma (also now a vizard). Both as a soul reaper and a vizard she has a child-like personality and would throw fits over little things. Her soul reaper attire was an oversized uniform, a pink scarf, and sunglasses on her head.

Shinji is a nonchalant man who usually makes comical actions and lightens the situation. However, when the situation calls, he can be quite serious and calm, in total control. He enjoys jazz music, which seems to match his personality.
Shinji is a visored: a group of soul reapers who have obtained hollow powers. Even though the visoreds don't have official ranks, he does most of the talking and leading. He is casual with other members, but seems to have a special connection with Hiyori Sarugaki. Hiyori often slaps Shinji whenever they get into an argument.
Back when Shinji was a soul reaper, he was captain of Squad 5. His lieutenant was Sosuke Aizen. Shinji was a good leader until he was exiled because of Aizen, who made Shinji and several other soul reapers go through the hollofication process. Kisuke Urahara was able to help them by turning them into what is now called the Visoreds, called so because of the mask that covers their face. Shinji's mask resembles an ancient Egyptian pharaoh and gives him hollow-like powers, including cero.

Lisa is one of the calmer, sensible members of the Visored, though she is often seen reading erotic manga. Lisa, along with the other Visoreds, helped with Ichigo's training to control his Hollow powers. Her Hollow mask resembles a diamond, and she gains speed and strength during Hollowfication.

Hachi is actually a very kind and gentle man, quite subservient to the more authoritative members of the Visored. He often obeys their commands, though with some quiet complaints.
