This is why there are filler arcs. If the anime took a break then they would be letting go of all the animators who would likely be working elsewhere when the show is ready to start again when they know they will be let go as soon as the show is done.  This is also why many shows that do get a break come back with a new animation staff other than the core creators which will often result in a different quality of product.

Hey, I'm a grandma and I understand what "overhyped" anime means.  I agree, it certainly doesn't apply to mainstream

America.  I am very disappointed that Bleach isn't  on tonight.  I enjoyed all 6 Star Wars movies, but not enough to see them

in animated form!  And certainly not enough to see them preempt Bleach.  Also, for the record, not only do I know what a

light saber is, I have watched anime since it's precursor Japanimation, which I also enjoyed (well, sort of, some of it anyway).

These are pretty much the main dubbing companies that are still around in the US.

Funimation
Viz
4kids
Aniplex/A-1 Pictures
Section 23

Funimation has sued 4kids over Yugioh which caused 4kids to file for bankruptcy. Funimation now uses 4kids to market shows like DBZ Kai and any other funimation dubs on other networks. So in a sense Funimation owns 4kids.

Viz is the strongest dubbing company other than funimation. It is hard for Funimation to try and bully them as Viz has the money to fight back. Viz is also known for many of its anime and manga like bleach, deathnote, naruto, one piece, ect.

A-1 Pictures I would say is third on the strength list it has many anime that have been made popular by adult swim.

Section 23 is a hodgepodge of other anime companies that decided to escape debt by ending their old companies and forming a new one.   Channels like the Anime Network are owned by them as well as many old anime and some new ones like Highschool of the Dead.  Their big problem now is money. Court costs to try and get the rights to Evangelion for the live action film that they have already paid in full is staggering I am sure. Not to mention Funimation brining up a 8 million dollar suit against the company for anime purchased by ADV back in the day that ADV/section 23 says that they have paid in full. Section 23 also has some connections with the Warner Bros company.

Funimation seems to have a habit with trying to destroy any company that is having an issue with a japanese company. I don't know if they are intentionally trying to do this. However the way that it is looking Funimation could be charged with a Monopoly if they keep absorbing or eliminating other dubbing companies. Funimation is also known for having the rights to the Rebuild of Evangelion films 1.11 and 2.22. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they are trying to put Section 23 under so that they can have a chance to buy the rights to the Evangelion series and a Live Action Film.

And Bandai isn't on that list anymore because they ceased distributing home releases as of 2012.  They WERE one of the strongest US anime companies for 13 years, but they've been going on a downhill streak for years and only now was it the nail in the coffin.  They failed to adjust to the current digital trends.

Was it FUNimation's Yu-Gi-Oh issue that was the cause of 4Kids bankruptcy?

Like I said Bandai pretty much shot themselves in the foot by trying to market too much moe anime. Moe anime doesn't age as well or have as much rewatch value as action or comedy anime in general, so it doesn't age as well in those 2 years that it takes to dub. It was more a case that Bandai were taking shows that did well in the japanese market however didn't do well in the american market.   Think about how Adult Swim showed Kekkashi which is a very popular show in Japan.....With children.  So it could be a number of things that could attribute to Bandai pulling out as they did.

1. Didn't do research

2. Took to long on dubs

3. Dub fans aren't real big on moe

4. Sub fans watch streams/dl the anime or are over the show by the time it gets over here or the general sub fans don't buy dubbed anime.

I think it was the Yugioh issue with 4kids.

Don't know why you keep mentioning moe any time someone brings up Bandai Entertainment, but it wasn't their only kind of show they promoted, and there were other reasons they went down too (those reasons you mentioned are all true).  Their DVD prices were a joke, their website looks like my little sister could program it after school, their online store has been closed for months, and their "Anime Legends" are simply a way to squeeze more money out of titles that are barely "legendary".  Or maybe I'm biased- I been frequenting a forum for moe anime for sometime now,... and yes... I watch the DUBS of those shows if they are available.

Because it's a reason why companies die because they put out to much moe that people don't buy. It would be like if ford decided that pintos were the way to go because they did well with a mexican market.

Most of bandi's good shows at the time of their departure were around 5 years old or older since their dub.

I love dubs I am a dubs fan and you do make a good point about horribly high prices being another reason to their downfall. The point I was trying to make was that bandai made some bad choices, but made it seem like it was only the subbers to blame. When in fact that was probably the least of their worries. Outside of collectors you will not see most people pay over $100 for one season of a show with no extra features.

I am sure you know that I am not a moe fan. However I understand that there are people who are, but most moe fans are sub fans and like I said sub fans will not buy a dubbed anime. I know it's odd but there are some people who find it disgusting that anime is dubbed in english even if they don't speak japanese.  However a bigger issue is the one that Moe does not age as well as Action or Comedy do.

Read the first and last page of this thread to get a feel for it..

It appears that by completely removing anime, only about 5 pages of posts were made to possibly protest the actions taken.
I'm sure u can see why 5 pages of posters isn't enough to induce any kind of guilt or even sympathy to what id like to call 'our' plight as the anime viewers of this network.

In there defense, those eps of clone wars were the best I'd ever seen and totally fit the theme for there marathon.
Now I can't complain, I rarely get a chance to watch the line up regardless of the day, so for me to tell them wut to do is kinda weak, so I won't. But il tell them what I do like, they should get the league to play on Sunday nights. SHIVA!
