Since this is a Blood+ music topic, I might as well use this thread to say I love love LOVE Blood+'s soundtrack.
That rarest of rare animes composed by a Westerner. I've barely heard anything else of Mark Mancina's, his credits are mostly movies like Con-Air where the original score isn't notable, but his Blood+ music is just stellar. Easily a shining example for his resume to show what he can do.
The use of character themes and motifs is something I don't hear much in anime, and gives it a unique sound. Giving Saya and Diva unique themes that are reused in wildly different sounds to cover their many moods, particular Saya's suite of songs named after her emotions. And the Grand Theme that basically tells a story through the varying moods through the song. That song is like experiencing an episode entirely through music.
Seriously love Mark Mancina's work on Blood+. Not to mention that it has Hans freaking Zimmerman as a music producer on it, after he was offered and turned down the composing job himself. I can't think of any other anime with that sort of Western pedigree to it. One of the most unique anime soundtracks I have ever heard.
