I think Will Ferrell helped some how with creating Dr.Stevie Brule.

On SNL Will Ferrell did a skit as Harry Carey and I always think of it when I see Steve. Its on his best of dvd.

I never considered the correlation, but now that I have, I can kinda see it.

But I don't think it was the exact inspiration.

I feel like Dr. Steve was either a character Reilly has been doing/thinking about for a long time, or its something that he and Will talked about. The character's finite edges are a work of art. Sheer comedic genius.
