Ya know, I'm not so sure yet if I like Season 2 or 3 better. I need to watch Season 3's episodes a hundred more times to know for sure. But Season 3 is different enough from Season 2 that I feel like I enjoy them equally but for different reasons.

Honestly, this and the past 2-3 episodes, not to say they haven't been good, were just not as good as previous episodes. The series was really picking up steam coming out of Season 2 and up until the "Three Acts" (so far last appearance of Ken Marino, coincidence or not), but since that episode aired, the show has gotten a feel of slower pacing and forced humor (much like the first season). Again I'm not saying that this and the few before it are bad, but the show seems to be going downhill in a sprint towards the season finale... I hope I'm wrong in the two weeks remaining.

As is usually the case, Adult Swim is airing the episodes in a different order from which they were produced. "A Play In Three Acts" was the last episode produced, but the 9th episode aired. So the absence of Ken Marino is likely coincidence.
I understand where you're coming from, though. I think the last two episodes in particular have been a little different from the rest of them. ("Munch By Proxy" was pretty much the same kind of zany stuff.) But I don't think they've necessarily been worse. I think they've played the characters a little bit more--Blake's relationship with his brother, Chet's relationship with Chief, etc. Not that it really matters, because all of this character development will easily be thrown out the window on a whim, but I like it.

It must be the character development that's bothering me... Before you mentioned it, I hadn't looked at those two episodes in that way given how farfetched a concept that is for this show, but then Sy had his Character Dev. episode in whichever one it was we found out he lived in
Regardless, I'm with you in the whole "hey, what does it matter," mentality given this show is live action Aqua Teen with a forged medical degree.
That said, the thing I was pointing out about Ken's absence is that, I don't think he is by any means my favorite part of the show, but episodes without him (at least these two) haven't been as memorable.
