Yep! We only got 15 minutes with Rob (He's a very busy Hollywood star after all) but it was awesome. Going to sandwich the interview in between this week's Swimcast (recording tonight - 7/15.) Hopefully I'll be able to have that up by the weekend. Stay tuned. :smileyvery-happy:

FYI: Unedited version (which to be honest won't be any different from the edited one... except for it being sandwiched between a few hours of useless bantering) will air sometime tonight, prior to the Swimcast Live recording of episode #103... which will record starting at 10pm Eastern... so before that. My statement first:

The show, "Children's Hospital" has two very talented character comedians from the delightful and informative "Daily Show".  In fact, "Children's Hospital" has many talented (yet not starring) actors and actresses whom have appeared in quite a few popular television series.

My Question: "Why is CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL chock full of boring bland tedious suckiness?"

Seriously.  This "Children's Hospital" show supposed to be a 15-minute comedy series and I have not been prompted to laugh or smile or even emote in the slightest.

I am not amused or shocked or angered or saddened or even prompted to like, much less, love any part of this lousy show.  How can so many talented people fail so miserably at the core talent of their career?

The photography of the show is fine.  The sets are believable as a hospital setting.  The audio is non-inviting despite 90% of the dialog being clear and audible.  Granted there is the distinct problem of the constant repellent bored *SIGHING* from every character, however, that is more a problem of the acting cast's arrogant attitude rather than the level of talent available.  The audio could be a bit more peppy rather than dreary and despondent.  Music can set the emotional cues for a scene even if the scene is tedious and weak in writing (most of the scenes in the "FRIENDS" television series as an example).  The actual medical procedures lack a decent comedic aspect much less even a parody aspect.  None of the characters are memorable.  None of them at all.  I cannot name a single character, or empathize with them, or even have the slightest interest toward any of these characters, or even care if they were alive or dead.

Granted 15-minutes is a rather short time to entrance an audience, but let's review a few ADULT SWIM shows which had a mere 15 minutes and excelled (in DVD sales and audience loyalty and continuing advertiser dollars).

Also note that I have purchased all of the below-listed series DVD's (plus many others of the ADULT SWIM lineup).

"Aqua Teen Hunger Force"

"Metalocalypse"

"Robot Chicken"

"Space Ghost: Coast to Coast"

"Titan Maximum"

"Sealab 2021"

"Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law"

I liked the "Tom Goes to the Mayor" series (a great series about stupidly misplacing trust in repeatedly untrustworthy authorities), but have no interest in purchasing a DVD of it.  I kind of liked a bit of "Tim & Eric Awesome Show", but it has just wallowed in unamusing fail most of the time sadly.

I will not purchase any DVD of "Delocated" or "Children's Hospital" because basically the teams for both of these series failed miserably in even the concept of entertainment and I do not forgive them for annoying me and my money.

They might want to remember the word "CHARACTER" can be broken down into the phrase "CARE ACTOR".  I care for none of the performances of these tedious actors and actresses in this show.  Therein, I do not "CARE FOR THESE ACTORS".  A primal failure of getting the audience to feel something about your cast in any level of a convincing performance is the core failure of this series.   Now, I will say that with a better and engaging audio track the series "Children's Hospital" *might* be rendered to a tolerably ignorable unwatchable series.  One final note, "Children's Hospital" and *no children present ever* (the rapidly aging "child" character does not count)?  Seriously?  Kids are problematic actors, but many are funny because they are weird, dumb, have strange inexperienced illusions of how the world works, have very little knowledge of the world outside of their families (which are also often weird in non-obvious ways), and believe the stupidest things at the drop of a card (religion for one).

If I were the network manager I would dump both "Children's Hospital" and "Delocated" and replace them with reruns of "The Brak Show" or "Lupin the 3rd" or "s-CRY-ed" (a not repulsively stupid Anime show).  Or if they have the cash, I'd think a run of the "Read or Die" (known as "Read or Die the TV") series might gain an audience as a 26 episode run (already dubbed to English) as the movie was weird but in an entertaining and good way.  I am currently planning to order the "Read or Die the TV" DVD's off Amazon.com in the next few months and I am not a voracious Anime fan (although I do love animated series in general).  I have purchased the "Ghost In the Shell" series DVD's and movies and have purchased the "Big O" series DVD set.

Wow, this is quite a post you have made here.

I'd say I agree there is a forgettable factor to this show. It is fast paced and possibly does not even aim to establish true characters. I think they've aimed to avoid it. all the characters just seem to be arrogant idiots, with no real personality to speak of.

But I don't think it's terrible, in fact I find it somewhat noble how they are bold in there decision to aim so low.
I guess it might seem a bit pedestrian to most comedy buffs, and stupid and pointless to casual viewers. But it fits here. I think it works for adult swim.

Even I don't know if I'll buy the DVD though.
and Titan Maximum was terrible, I hated that show. Love the TGTTM DVD though. Three discs for like 15 bucks.

Although I agree with you here, I've kinda used my love for the actors on the show as substitute for liking the characters.

So it's less like "horrible conceited people being conceited" and more like "fantastic, adorable, and talented comedians being hilarious."

Which I imagine doesn't work for everyone watching it, though. Since not everyone is aware of who these guys are, and some people are more accustomed to seeing their fiction as its own world rather than a world created by the people who made it. If that makes sense. I mean like -- I tend to view shows in terms of a product made by people, not just as its own entity. If I see something I think is particularly funny, I won't just think the show is funny but I'll think about how the person writing the show is funny and the actor must be talented because their delivery was perfect.

And, I think that point of view helps with this show.

I was actually thinking about how I have a friend who really gets into her fiction and really views them as if they were independent realities (even if she consciously knows otherwise - she's not crazy). And I was thinking, she'd hate this show. It just would work for her from that viewpoint because she'd be concerned with how terrible the people on the show are and how the safety of the kids on the show was being compromised. And that viewpoint, although being beneficial for enjoy other types of shows, just doesn't mesh with something like this. And no amount of explaining why the show is funny to me could make her find it funny, I don't think.

I guess a better way to phrase it is that it's really about looking at what's behind something rather than what's right there in front of you.

But again, not everyone does this, so it may be a bad idea for the show to rely on it.

I think I may actually enjoy seeing the show evolve beyond it, but I think in doing that it would have to sacrifice a lot of what it is. It would have to go from being a parody of things that take themselves too seriously to something that takes itself a little seriously. And it would force people like me to stop looking at the characters in terms of the actors and playing them and start looking at them in terms of characters. Which is interesting in it's own way, but in a way I think I can get from other shows, and I don't think that's where this show's strengths lie.

So it's like, even if this show isn't strong in that way, which typically does make shows more memorable for me, I think it's strong in it's own way that I don't actually encounter as often (I've only really seen it on sketch-comedy types of things). And maybe the fact that it's so uncommon also makes it memorable in its own way.

yeah being such a comedy nerd I can't help but get excited for projects by my favorite comedians.

Like, Bob's Burgers. The concept for the show is a tad basic and not really that interesting but because Loren is working on it, and Kristen Schaal and Jon Benjamin are apart of it....I am totally excited for this show.

At some point though, celebrity credentials only draw so long, if the show is total crap I would still not watch. And I might give a show longer than I should, depending on how much I like it's cast, but at some point a show has to win me over with substance. I still am not sure if this show has won me over.

Hahah, yeah. I'm excited for Bob's Burgers, too.

I think Childrens' Hospital definitely is a comedy for comedy nerds.

But, you do make a good point and I certainly see where you're coming from! A show can only survive on a gimmick for so long. Once the novelty wears off the show could lose it's luster. And, I'll admit that I wouldn't count it among my top five favorite shows or anything.

Children's hospital is the corniest show on TV. No one likes it at all. Last time I watched an episode with my friends we all sat there quite , the show was really awkward and tries way to hard, a whole room of people hated it. We get it your making fun of hospital shows its so f**king funny.haha. Just stop, this show is truly and completely an embarrassment to the label adult swim. Every live action show you show except for the mighty boosh which u didn't even make **NaClO** a horses ***hole. Please, either stop showing live action shows or make them drastically better, side note delocated is f**king stupid.
