This was more valid when 12 oz Mouse was around - given China, IL actually has a certain amount of detail to it.

Yeah. I was surprised by the amount of detail in the first episode. Particularly in the crowd shots and Armageddon sequence at the end.

According to the preview the "special agent" used the actual sign language!

Somebody saying this show didn't have enough detail is really just saying they don't like cartoons. This show has style; get use to it. The main point of the show is the awesome over the top humor.

You've got a point there. The animation does look like a 4 year old drew it, but hey...just because the production values are **beast**ty doesn't mean it won't be funny and clever. I'm sure there are lots of cartoons like this. And they're not gonna spend alot of money on it unless it's guranteed to be well-received. But of course it's probably people like you who make them not want to invest too much into the show. I mean no disrespect. Just saying. Cmon, give the show time to grow. It's barely even started yet. The show had a catchy commercial song. That's something isn't it? Not much but something. If that's at least decent, then why wouldn't the show be? And besides, if you don't like it, then just don't watch it. If the show **beast**, then they'll eventually cancel it anyway. Just like those **beast**ty tim and eric shows.

You know it's funny. Rather than attracting heat for another $2 production, China, IL is mostly generating apathy. Ok, it's cheap. Neely's funny. But for some reason, people are more bored than enraged.

Who cares if it isn't generating a ton of discussion? It's a comedy show and it hasn't even been on for a month. And the people who are posting about it are liking it for the most part. Not everything in this world has to be divisive, you know.

While we're talking about it, is no one going to point out how horrible most Anime is as far as animation? It's all just one pretty picture on a loop or set very still for 30 seconds at a time.

Yeah, Sealab was more annoying. I loved that show, and yet could still not get over the animation. Almost every single picture was taken from the old show and used with different voices.

Please do not confuse a unique artistic style with a lack of talent. 

Just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't make it bad.

A lot of people aren't comfortable with evolutions in art, but that doesn't make the art any less valid.

This animation is far from stick people. It manages to convey emotion and detailed action well.  The objective, after all, is to portray comedy (which this show does well), not to celebrate landscapes.

Everybody here who mentioned previous shows with low production value received kudos from me. Congratulations to you all for having the proper perspective and understanding that this is Adult Swim we're talking about, and not every show can be The Boondocks.

I agree, this is a huge step up from the original webshorts, and I loved them, I mean if you really want to see low production value look up george washington by brad neely, but that song is so awesome I actually have it on my mp3 player and will rock it out in public in quiet places just to make people laugh. The jokes are what count, and the jokes are great.

I bet you arn't a fan of the stylings of Gary Larson, Bill Watterson or Scott Adams. And I DARE YOU to go start making your own friggin animated philisophical comedy by yourself.

Go out and write the dialog, and write and record the music and draw and animate it BY YOURSELF, with no outside funding or proffessional training, or team of interns, or sound studio to sinc the sound and music up with the animation, OR editer to make every detail perfect.

Thats right!  Brad Neely made many animated shorts that have been loved and cherrished world wide for years before adult swim picked him up from superdeluxe. He made this show with his own hands in his own time and thats more than most any shows on AS. Even 12 oz Mouse was a collaberation and the animation was the worst quality AS has ever had. But it wasnt about the the way it was drawn. Its the substance that makes it unforgetable. Just like sealabe 2021 its not the animation that is pinnicle but how the writers decide to bring the characters alive with conflict, passion, madness, insecurities, betrayal, jealously, comradery, spontinuity, rage and mindless violence.
