Fan Service in CG

What do you guys think of it? I think it's unecessary, really.

-"Tell me, Bats. What are you really scared of? Failing to save this cesspool of a city? Not finding the Commissioner in time? Me, in a thong?!" Joker

There's not a lot of it (especially compared to some series).  I think it's a good amount.  Not too much, not too little.

I honestly think it's just there to lighten up the mood a little. When there's too much tension in a series, it can get to be rather dark and draining. Especially when you consider that this is a series that has children in soldier positions. When there's little bits of funny tossed, it helps to break the tension into more easily digested bits. And what's a faster and cheaper way to defuse tension than something like an inadvertant butt-shot? :smileyvery-happy:

The thing that annoys me is that CG is such a great series, but the fanservice is kind of a barrier when I want to recommend it to friends.

The show has some good elements, but I can't take it seriously because of the fanservice. One minute it's showing a bunch of boobs and them chasing a cat then it's trying to get all dramatic. Whatever...

Exactly my point. I love CG, but I hate when they pull stuf like this. Fanservice is fine if it stays in its corner, but not when it gets in the way like this. I hate that I can't watch this with someone else and not worry if they think I'm a perv.

I don't see how you people think there's so much.  I thought there was hardly any and a lot of it was relegated to filler episodes.

If you want to see a show slowed down by massive fan service, watch Highschool of the Dead.

The majority of episode 5 of R2 was I think the only time where the fanservice actually detracted from my enjoyment of the show.  If it wasn't for the last five minutes I'd say it has very little value in the series at all.  Also Kallen ass shots got old after a while.

Other than those, meh.  Can't say it bothered me that much.

It's fine for what it is. It doesn't overtake the story like so much fanservice does.

I think they should have gone more explicit with the Nina/Table-kun sex scene to build up the tension between the two
