as of now I'd say Lelouch and Light have some similar personality triats and ideals, but they're very different. Of course only time will tell if Lelouch gets corrupted and his morals become warped like lights have...

I look at them as with the almost same ideals, but are the opposite at the same time. Lelouch = the light and Light = the darkness. No puns intended.

Judging from what I've seen of Light, he seems a lot more power-mad with his fancy new Deathnote. He also has a massive god complex. On the other hand, Lelouch uses his power to suplement his own goals and methods. He doesn't go god-crazy on it, he sees it as another tool.

no. they have the same goal. and theres no way you can deny that. but, they have different methods of getting there. but still, the goals are the same. as far as morals go, yea lelouch has a bit less than light but he still wants the minimal amount of people dead. no more than necessary.

well leluch wants to topple an empire that controls 1/3 of the globe within his lifetime I think tha means there will be many occasions weras he'll break moral codes. Even now he is simply using the 11's for his own means. they have completly separate goals

Light wants to reign over the world as a god...I don't think Lelouch has quite that big of an ego.

Also, in general regards to the subject matter (not as a reply to the above post), if Lelouch was Light, he sure as hell wouldn't have risked his neck to save Suzaku. Light doesn't appear to have friends, much less friends he's willing to risk his life to save.

They have completely different goals. Light wants to become god and literally rule the world. Lelouch wants to take down an oppressive empire and make the world better for his sister.

Light has the most twisted set of morals in the world. In his mind no body matters but himself, and anyone who he kills deserved it because they were in his way. Lelouch, so far at least, has only killed those that were prepared to kill and he's also caring of others. Light has never cared for anyone but himself.

It's true, both Light and Lelouch are anti-villains, but that's around where the real similarities end.

Yeah. Light forced himself to be cold, calculating, and distant by using the Death Note. He basically doesn't care about anyone, without getting into spoiler territory here. Light wants to make the world a better place, like Lelouch, but is he doing it for anyone close to him? A huge part of Lelouch's motivation, on the other hand, is creating a better world for his sister. It's a stark difference. I've been thinking about that lately.

Lelouch and Light [from death note] seem to be similar, cause of the way they act.

Not really just the way that they act, but also because of what they both wanted.

What they both wanted seems very similar to me. Is it just me or what?
