By the way, the custom icons will most definitely be lost, yes... but don't think the regular icons and board are safe.  Humbug hasn't removed the folders and icons for shows that AS has lost the rights to only to be nice and to keep them up as long as he can.  But, if he gets told, he'll have to remove them!

Pretty low, I'd say.  But then again, stranger things have happened.  Like them inexplicably keeping the rights to The Oblongs, Mission Hill, and Baby Blues for years (I'd put Stroker & Hoop in that group, but that's an [as] original)!

Besides, when will the new series be dubbed?  2012?  Yeah...fat chance of that!

In all seriousness, I do have to say it is a sad day when we lose any Anime, despite what I might think of it.  Not to mention, apparently some point... I wrote this. Check out the second half of the first paragraph; maybe I can have Humbug stricken that from the record.

I mean, I must have liked some things about it, and some characters to watch it through to the end, right?

In any case, We can only hope that another series just as good, or better is taking it's place?  I mean... we've lost Blood+, Death Note, and now this.  We're gaining Brotherhood, Kekkashi and... ???  Hmm... I think we deserve more shows if we are going to lose this many.

Great, I come onto the Code Geass boards to find out they've lost the rights. We rarely had re-runs for it. They should have had a mini-marathon like they had with Death Note. Well luckily the series is streaming legally on YouTube , animenewsnetwork, and Crunchyroll.

THEY NEED TO SHOW SOMETHING THAT AIN'T BEEN SHOWN IN AWHILE AND CODE GEASS WOULD BE GREAT AND THEN THE NEW ONE.

Depends on the contract. Some contracts are set for a certain period of time only while others are set up as a first-air right [they get to show it first but after that point its open to others]. Still others may have stipulations about handling or may only be good through the first complete run of the series. Whichever the case may be, once that stipulation has been met, the ones who officially own the property can take that property and either sit on it or offer it to another company to air. Some contracts are easily renewed because no one else might feel like taking that particular show in, it might not fit their own show 'family'. Other contracts become hot tickets and might not be renewable by the original rights holders due to price. A good example of that is "Futurama" which [as] had for like a 5 year contract or something similar. In the course of that time, the fanbase grew so great that the series was re-born. It's price tag for rights ended up being millions and millions of dollars [not joking, I think it was $30 million for the rights to air "Futurama"]. Too rich by far for [as] who has to think of all their shows and not just one but Comedy Central had the money to burn.

I don't know if they'll be able to get CG back or not. That could very easily revolve around the fans and their board activity and whether or not some other channel has garnered the rights and is just sitting on them, much like SyFyllis and their Manga Entertainment catalog [which I think they own control of and are just sitting on it instead of airing things] .

katt_goddess is right.  Frankly, I don't expect Code Geass to ever come back to [as].  If you want to watch Lelouch of the Rebellion, I suggest buying the DVDs.  As for the new series, I'd wish for a quick DVD release if you want to see it at all.  Or for those of us rich enough to get an Anime Channel on whatever cable provider you have, cross your fingers.

I know it's obviously far from when they lost it. But I'm still upset, this was the best anime in the history of animes. They could get the rights back, but that all depends on how hard they worked for it. It was an amazing series, and I don't even feel like watching [as] anymore because of it. After finishing the series, it's like a struggle just to even watch in on other sites over, I've been avoiding it.

Whoever hates the series, can f*ck off. Because it was the most brilliant, imaginative, and well-thought out manga/anime in exsistance. I stay to my word.
