They weren't milking it, there's just that much music from the series. I know I have some duplicates, but I have at least 150 tracks from the series and movie on my computer.
I've gotten pretty much all of the soundtracks (with the exception of Blue and the Limited Edition Box Set) from randomly finding them for cheap at Vintage Stock. A lot of them ended up being bootlegged versions. Does your OST say it was distributed by Pioneer? It might be a bootleg too if it doesn't. I don't know if you could really find a legit version of the soundtracks anymore anyway though.
Your local Best Buy probably has the Anime Classics box set of Cowboy Bebop for 20-30 bucks.
That's right. While there are some duplicates, there is only one CD that's nothing BUT duplicates (that's the one I don't have).
The REAL O.S.T.s are produced by Victor Entertainment. If it's not from Victor, then it's a boot. You should still be able to find them online if you search by catalog numbers. I have them all on my blog. If you google them you'll get a site that sells them. They're in the neighborhood of $30 apiece last I looked (at least if you are in the Americas. They ARE imports.
). Except for the real box set, I got them all off amazon.com - people are buying and selling them and don't know they're boots. I contacted one seller asking about it - turns out he and his family are huge fans and didn't know what they were selling were bootlegs, so they removed them from stock. It's a mess.
I don't go to many flea markets, so I don't have any finds from there. Man that WOULD be something else to see something Bebop related at one!
What is "Vintage Stock"? Is that some sort of store I've never heard of?
Anyway, it has a pamphlet and everything. Everything's here. It has people accredited to in it as being from Victor, but I don't see anywhere that explicitely says who put it out. It says FXCD-006, for whatever that's worth. I see a logo that says "fx" and has some weird reddish circly thing around the fx. Though, I'm sure more than one company put them out.
Am I really going to have to put the battery and SIM card back in my BlackBerry to get to the bottom of this? Taking just this one picture and getting online was enough of a pain. The phone speakers went out in it, so I'm stuck with a crappy Go Phone until March when I get my upgrade. Everything else works... okay, in it, though. But yeah, getting this picture to show was an ordeal, as I said... lol.
The blog looks interesting. I'll have to check it out when I get more time. It's wrasslin' night, haha.
Maybe I will post here more, meganaraku. It's just that I've seen Bebop so many times an discussed it to death years ago, I'm not sure there's much more I could say. I do think I might want to check and see if the Bebop threads in my subscriptions from way back when ever got moved over here. I get the feeling they're probably still in General Action Discussion. I see there's a thread for just that purpose at the top of this folder... hmmm.
20-30 bucks for the whole series? Figures. I knew I should have passed on the Sessions. Still, they were only 3 for 5 dollars (plus I now have the movie that I still haven't watched yet, though I listened to the CD), and they're pretty cool. Session 1 has Spike's bio on the back, and Session 2 has Faye's. Seems like somebody had unloaded their Bebop collection. I just wish the rest of the Sessions had been there.
Interesting to hear back from ya'll, in any case. And thanks for the tips on finding stuff. The thing with flea markets and such that is good, is you're more likely to get a good deal from someone who doesn't know what they have, and also you can better check to see if something works or is legit. You can still get screwed over in person, don't get me wrong, but it's not as easy as online. Though finding things online has its benefits, as well. This is the first one I've been to in years, and I'm hoping to go to more soon.
