In the Japanese version the pet shop lady valued him at "ni-hyakyu woolong" (200 woolong), if we use the Yen model of Bebop money and a 1:1 exchange ratio it would be approx. $2.

In the English version she quite clearly said the dog was worth $2. She even held two fingers up.
