Well, now, it seems that "law" works as well in the Soul Society as it does in the human world. Except Nakashima somehow finds a way to make even the most a-hole judge look like a Red Cross volunteer in comparison.
It seems to me that was less a criminal trial and more of an attempted "morale booster" showing that "traitors will not be tolerated" or something to that effect.
Nakashima seems to represent the very oldest way of thinking there is, especially the way he wants the brothers dead for no more reason than because they're Jaxon's sons....bestard.
