to Noise?

I think it should be moved.

This is a folder for creative works about anything and everything. Noise is for anything and everything not specifically tied to [as]. Only makes sense to move it.


I'm just gonna leave it at that in here. I'll keep up the lengthy discussion in the .Com thread. Don't want to bog this down a whole lot.

hmm it might fit better in with noise then. before it was fanfiction which fit in wit the anime section. but now that its for anything and everything might be better in noise?

  I see both sides of the debate honestly. I understand that  moving the folder might expose it to a larger audience,

and now that it has had its content expanded to a much broader scope, moving it to Noise would make sense.

there are however a few practical considerations to keep in mind.

  The first of these is that if moved, banner changes etc. would have to be done by a Mod or Admin.

That isn't their responsibility in all honesty, and I'd rather them not have to spend time doing that.

That would leave having some form of Noise Helper, which strikes me as a very large invitation to massive drama.

  I don't see why the folder has to be moved though. The community of people that already post here

seem quite happy with the current location, I've never seen any complaint over it, nor do I see any

kind of impediment to people from Noise folders posting here. In point of fact quite a few have

posted here, and the stories they have shared are uniformly creative and humorous. I don't

see these stories as being out of place simply because the folder is in the action section.

As most of these stories were posted here prior to the name change, I don't see the evidence

of the folder's location as being unduly imposing upon people who want to share their creative efforts.

  Finally, one of the reasons I had in mind when I first suggested this name change and content broadening

was to get more people to visit different sections of the boards, and to meet different people from those sections.

It was more than just changing a name, because honestly this folder really wasn't bothered with by much

of anyone unless someone posted something particularly randy in nature. It seemed to me to be a great chance

to try and get some different people together to share their efforts with each other, and to meet new people

and get new feedback. This folder has a history of embracing the writing of users with genuine interest

and offering fair but kind feedback, and that says something about the community of people at large.

Even though there is good reason to move it, I disapprove of moving it due to the fact that I like it where it is, but it won't matter, since I get used to changes quickly.

1. There is no compelling reason to move it to Noise.

2. Jinga's post has very good reasons to leave it here.

3. If they ever decide to move it, it should become it's own section instead of being added to Noise, because it definately does not belong with the silliness that goes on there.

It wouldn't matter to me. Wherever it goes, I'm sure that it won't exactly be filled to the brim with people or creative works.

Jingai's post raises some really good points about certain details the move would entail, largely the responsibilities of floating threads/changing banners/etc. becoming those of mods/admins who likely don't have the time to be surveying the folder like hawks. Another good point he raises is that if there were such a move, and the helper got abilities for noise folders, it could perhaps become problematic.

I personally don't really have any issue with the folder relocating to another section, but I do think that before the decision can be made the above details need to be worked out.

I mean, what harm is it doing here, half of the posts in the "anime" section aren't about anime anymore anyway.

Plus I can only see moving it to the Noise folder as causing a whole lot of drama and problems.

I agree with you and Hikky.

I don't see a reason to move it. I think it's great here. It's easy to find. The fact that it's "technically" in the Action section doesn't deter people from writing comedy fan fic. 

Whereas, I do see problems with moving it.

Someone brought up the idea of moving it to noise and I thought it was only fair to include the actual posters here in the discussion.

 The one thing that I do think we should consider, is perhaps updating the floated threads

to reflect the changes made. That is something that I overlooked, and I feel as though I was

negligent in that regard.

  I'm just curious as to everyone's thoughts on these matters. I don't consider this to be an immediate issue, but rather

something to think about moving forward. I would particularly like to get input from the actual authors of those threads,

I think that they should certainly have a say in what happens with their threads.
