Wow, I forgot how quickly ACTN discussion threads blow up.

Anyway, that's gotta be my favorite premiere episode of an Adult Swim anime in a long time. One of my biggest issues with most anime shows is that it takes them forever to get the plot moving. Well, this show wasted no time. The kid's classmates get killed, he gets framed, he goes to Superjail Deadman Wonderland. Oh, and he has the same powers as that psycho killer guy.

All in all, I was entertained. Not sure what I think about the girl in tights yet.

And the warden wears a G-cup bra. Cool.

I see AS is smuging/bluring certain parts of scenes to keep it safe for tv. You need to eat candy every three days or you die.

G isn't a fake size. The largest cup size is a 38KKK

It is said that japanese cup sizes on average are a cup and a half smaller than american.

Exactly. Whats up with thes people?

Even with that tape of him being cocky as hell should still bring up the question "How the fuuuuuudge did he manage to pull that off!?! And why won't we lock him up in a mental hospital for further study." This just doesn't make sense in any logical fashion! LOL

If it's a setup by multiple people in high places that are part of this special prison they can clearly get around where they send him.

This might be the bloodiest thing ever aired on Adult Swim. I love it and would like some more please.

Just in case people didn't like the first episode, in all defense it's only the first episode.

But if you want to skip the next 2/3 episodes and miss out on some plot details like candy, points, and when the show actually starts becoming good.

Everything is better when Crow shows up. Then the rest is history.

Came in to say this. In America, with our Imperial measurements, yes, we do have a G-cup, but it's not the same as Japan's metric G-cup, which is, like, America's D-cup. Upper D-cup.

Without a weapon, that 14 year old could never, ever hope to unleash that kind of carnage.  Decapitation kind of requires a weapon, and enough strength to wield it.  As an aside, not even executioners back in the day were 100% successful in one swing beheading with axe or 2h sword.  And in Japan, woe be to you if you were the "second" at a seppuku, and you screwed up.  Didn't happen to see him with a katana or even a wakizashi.  Sorry, but you don't get those kind of results unarmed.

So... where the hell were all the other folks in the school when a third-floor classroom gets blasted into oblivion? And the people in it turned chunky style :smileytongue:

Anime scores minus several points for an utterly silly premise.

The female (protagonist I'm assuming) seems kind of silly.  In my experience with prosecuting criminals, an unconscious female on the floor/ground in a male penitentiary would be in serious trouble, and I don't mean from kicks/punches either.  In some situations, the same could be said for a female penitentiary too.

Union ... Union ... Uber Alles.

I've never heard of the show before they posted it on the new Toonami lineup. After watching tonight, yes I would like to see more DMWL. I'm quite curious to figure out the fantastic nature of the show.(With the floating killer, red glowing jewel, and some mysterious powers on display)

Adult swim, I've watched you for years, since the beginning even, but never in all this time have I been more proud than I am right now. You've managed to make me care about your progressively sh***y scheduling. You ingenious bastards revived something we all love and care about. +1 for bringing us back Toonami. Go on, you deserve it.

I don't get Shiro either. They better be going somewhere with this...

EDIT: Kinda part of how I kinda am not taking to this show like I thought I would. I thought "Made by the Eureka Seven guy? This won't be too much of a chore to watch, and it blends right in to [AS] because they had Eureka Seven once!" But I was wrong, and I'm thanking my lucky stars that this is only 12 episodes long. I should be done with this in the middle of August and then I can put it to bed.

I'm gonna hand tonight's judgment over to Casshern. It wasn't "thrilling", but I'll take boring over a messy project any night.

I think Ganta has multiple personalities. We can assume he has psychological damage from being a "survivor of the Red Hole" or whatever and having "selective memory (traumatic amnesia)," Then, after watching episode 1 again, I noticed he gave a nasty look to his female friend while she was sitting down. This, toppled with the video, makes me believe he's a little sick. There's always the possibility that he was framed, which I initially believed, but I think the warden served as his lawyer just to make sure he was sent to Deadman Wonderland because the mc is so sick and unique. I thought the "Red Man" was a separate entity, but now I think he's either a split personality or some delusional warning before he flips out.

There's a bulls-eye on his coffee, like on that girl's titty! Do you think he might have been drugged or something?

Ganta could have easily smuggled a knife or hatchet into school using his backpack. I'd also imagine that it wouldn't be too hard for him to make a home-made bomb or just use his exploding hands :smileyindifferent:. I really think Ganta is delusional. I'm not sure about his powers though, maybe he got them during the tragedy his friend referenced.
