Operation Woodpecker - saving Deadman Wonderland

[ Edited ]

-Operation Woodpecker-

To save Deadman Wonderland from incompletion

Deadman Wonderland is a great anime that was sadly cut short. Why? Poor reception in Japan is what's to blame. Though Deadman Wonderland has an ongoing manga series (which means plenty more story to put into episodes), Japan doesn't have the same tastes as the Western world, so it turned its back on Deadman Wonderland anime. Forget about Japan. It's time we told the creators of the anime that we want more! We won't stand having just 13 episodes. Deadman Wonderland deserves better. But how will we get more episodes? Simple - buy the DVDs for the show. Each purchase is like a little nudge to the creators - "hey, make more Deadman Wonderland episodes." Now, imagine the creators getting thousands upon thousands of those nudges. They won't be able to deny that they should make more episodes. Show the creators through sheer sales that they need to continue Deadman Wonderland. If you want to see Deadman Wonderland live on, do your part and buy the DVDs.

Release date is set for October 9th, 2012. You can get your dibs on http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008NNY9J4/ or http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/5j3V-YU9GivqnW

Finally! Someone created this topic! Great going dude!

LISTEN UP FOLKS!
A season 2 is never going to happen unless the DVD sells really well in the US.
Why? Cause 'Deadman wonderland' sold less than 1000 copies in 2011.
Yes, less than a thousand!
It was a catastrophic failure back in Japan!

If you are wondering why Deadman Wonderland has all asterisks next to it, that is because the sales were too small to rank (less than 1000).
Note that this is for combined sales of both DVD and BD formats, which is just sad.

I love this anime to bits and I'll definitely be buying it to show my support! (so should you if you want any chance of seeing a second season)

This seems like a good idea.

Maybe start a Facebook group like the Operation Rainfall one to gather the crowd and get some hard numbers of how many people are interested. And also start a poll to see how much people would be willing to donate to a theoretical Kickstarter campaign to fund a second season.

I've pasted "For Deadman Wonderland fans: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Operation-Woodpecker-saving-Deadman
-Wonderland/184452271669987
"
to a bunch of Toonami and DW Facebook pages. Everyone else do the same!

Though in hindsight, I should have used something more descriptive than "For Deadman Wonderland fans". Oh well, won't be the last time I do this!

If I had a job I would gladly by the show (even though I already have all episodes recorded on dvr)

Seriously, I'm glad AS showed this series, I think it's very good and creative. A few days ago I went and read the entire manga series (starting from the beginning, not chapter 21 when the anime cuts off)

there's a whole lot of stuff I want to see on the show, like Azami and the Forgeries, not to mention more of Shiro and Ganta's backstory.

Good thing you did it. The registration email never got to me.

Also, what do you mean by what you first said? Paste the OP of this thread onto a Facebook post for the group? I've already got it in the group details.

I think it might be a smart idea to refocus from trying to get a season 2 to trying to get the manga licensed again, since the latter is a lot more achievable than the former. We can have the former on the backburner, but if we really want to enjoy more Deadman legally, it's probably a smart idea to get the manga over here as soon as possible.

It's crazy how this show didn't go over well in Japan. It is one of my top favorites ever at the moment. I went on amazon to buy the manga and saw that volumes 6-11 haven't even been translated yet. "Tokyopop lost the rights." AND volumes 1-3 are selling for over $50 a volume! I bought 4-5 because i wanted to support this series as much as I could. I have the show on pre-order too for $38 at that one site.

Wow. That's the kind of dedication that'll get us a season 2 man! Thanks a ton for the support!
And yeah, since tokyopop's gone under, read the rest of the manga online....trust me, it's AMAZING!
51 chapters have been released and all of them have been fan-translated. Just google that sh!t.
Oh and if you have an iPad, download the free Manga Storm app to read DW straight on there.

Dude, put that FB link on the first post. People might miss it unless they bother reading the whole thread.
What do you think our next step should be? We should just post this on different anime forums huh...

Those sites are good ideas. Also, 4chan has a whole board dedicated to anime. I don't know any extra sites to post to that I haven't already.
