I'm not sure, but all I know is that it's definitely nice to see Toonami take a more mature path with this show. Not to mention I'm really looking forward to catching it.

I'm quite curious of this as well.... I don't know if its just me or what, but I get annoyed of hearing the bleep every couple of lines. Especially when it last 5-10 seconds, that gets old fast.... The blood and gore part I don't really see them having a problem with, looking at all the other shows they air. The only thing i see persistant across the board is the bleeping of words. I mean, how can a few cuss words be worse than seeing someone's head cut off or their insides pulled out of them?
Sorry, kinda random, but I really have a issue with the censors.... Its annoying and gets in the way... lol

I am watching the show right now, and I see that yes, the violence is big, but the bleeping is mandatory. It's not the fact that they share a channel with a children's network, its because of FCC regulations. Based on this channels accessability, time of air, and content, AS has mandatory rules they MUST follow, or risk getting a government fine. People will complain and gripe, but I would not want to have to go through the layers of griping in the office. These censorship regulations vary from channel to channel, as you notice harder to access channels have less regulations, but are still regulated.

They may mean that the manga has more gore. Highschool of the Dead did the same thing. The anime shows some stuff, but the manga went into a lot more "detail".
From what I have heard from other people the show isn't really edited other than the bleeps. I haven't seen this show yet, so I am blissfully in the dark.

How do you figure it goes beyond any show Adult Swim has aired in terms of blood and violence? Haven't you ever seen Metalocalypse or Superjail? Sure, Superjail is goofy enough with its art style, even as violent as it is, but Metalocalypse shows its gore in pretty realistic and detailed fashion.
I heard there were some blurs in the first episode, but I didn't notice it.

I haven't noticed any of the blood censored up to what I've seen of the series originally but the I think there is a lot more swearing in the dub than in the sub, which I think really adds an extra boost to the show for me, lol

I'm not sure if an uncensored version exists because the Japanese broadcast darkened the gore and made all the people on Myanimelist I compare to the audience of the Dograce angry that they couldn't see the death. I know there's an uncensored Highschool of the Dead, but that's a different show

No, it's not because of the FCC. Cable networks are not beholden to FCC content standards. Only over-the-air networks are.

It was my understanding that the uncensored version was on the Blu Ray release in Japan, but I could be mistaken.

Thanks for the info on what was beneath that long bleep. And yes, that sounds like it was justifiably censored.

if DVDs are out chances that might be uncencored? i know funi said they'll be releasing deadman wonderland uncencored on dvd.
also i belive that the cencorship on toonami is less uncencored and more uncencored in some areas. its less uncencored with the violence (for example in ep.2 when the guy got cut in half during the obstacle they showed that on toonami but cencored it in the sub) but more cencored with the language. (like in the sub that MMA guy said "Im going to rape and kill you BEEP." where as in toonami it was "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP you." )

Yeah, the constant bleeping of swearings bother me. I don't understand how bad words are suddenly worse than 29 heads cut off, lots of bloody deaths, and a society that accepts... no welcomes that.

If they can show this then they can show Baccano!. and that makes me very happy.

they don't bleep out some curse words, like a$$ or sh!t. but they do usually bleep out the f-bomb, which is fine by me. they say it a lot in the uncensored version anyways
.
they make up for the bleeping with all the innuendo
.
as far as the gore is concerned, its not that over the top. if you remember, blood+ had just as much blood, though so far, every episode of deadman wonderland has been rated TV MA, while blood+ got many TV-14 ratings. its not the first time [as] has played a very bloody anime.
so far, the show's been fairly interesting. i'm sticking with it.

I agree with this, it's rather obvious that the dialogue is meant to be un-bleeped (as opposed to something like Metalocaplyse where censors are accomodated), so with the bleeps it can kinda get in the way. Bugs me knowing how [as] should be able to get away with a lot of it, too. It's still one major drawback of being a part of CN.
