Oh, I think you know what a real life L would be like. Just like one of those skinny, pale, acne-riddled nerds who never leave their house. In real life, people who spend 23 hours a day inside, sitting down, watching a computer screen/TV screen, never socializing, etc., tend to not be highly attractive. They also tend to be quite awkward and not in a cute way. More in the "he's very annoying" sort of way.
I don't think a woman calling man "unique" is good thing. That seems like a nice way of turning them down and sparing their feelings.
Didn't L spend days at a time in that chair? We know he'd sleep in it, at least several times. And people don't always recoil. At least not physically. They might mentally recoil in horror. Most people would be considerate enough not to make a scene over it.
