The one difference in my strategy than L's would be my face would never be seen, I think I'd go with a Zero helmet.  And if she offered to use her eyes that means that she would be useful for a time, even if it was only to betray me down the line.  Even if it was just to find you to make an alliance I would make sure I was there when she greeted you as Kira and I would stop you both.  She really needs to get on and say what side she's on.

Ha ha ha!  Yes, yes she should.  Though I find it interesting to note that you'd involve her even though it would result in bad consequences for her, no matter what happened.

I leave for a few days, and come back to you two debating over me. I'm quite flattered.

First, I would see no real reason to get involved in anything if I didn't already have a Death Note, and therefore the eyes as well. So if I offered my services, lupin can assume I already have the eyes. So there's that situation dealt with. Not only that, but Meilga has already sown the seeds of doubt in your mind...merely by suggesting I would have alterior motives for my actions. I'm am slightly disappionted, but not much. After all, my motives woudl be different, as I don't really care if he would be brought to justice or not....I just want the thrill of the hunt.

That's only because you've managed to persuade him into thinking that I might end up betraying him in the end. He now sees me as a potential threat.

I figure that there is only room on top for one.  If you 2 did team up, you'd have to abmit there would be so much distrust the team up wouldn't last long until you'd be trying to kill each other.  My main goal would be getting te death notes and destroying both of them.

He hasn't convinced me of anything, but it's just unwise not to consider every possible scenario.  Preparation is half the battle.  So if you helped me and we caught Meilag and desroyed his notebook would you give up yours?

I sincerely doubt Meilag and I would join up. Our motives are mostly likely very different, as is our intentions.

Would I give up my notebook? Perhaps, but do you really believe that to be wise. After all, I would lose my memories and eyes, and what would happen if another notebook came in existence, and someone picked up where he left off?

Good point, I would want you to loan your death note to me.  I would probably set it up in a security vault with a fail safe device like Light had with his drawer.  That way we could keep the eyes and your memories unless someone tried to steal it.  It would be the greatest weapon in the world.

That would probably be for the best. The only thing I woudl suggest is allowing me to take possession of it, in your sight if you feel so inclined, every 400 odd days, just to ensure I would never lose ownership or my eyes.

I suggest this because of that rule, and there's no way to use the anime as a basis for figuring it out.

I'd half my life for the eyes, so keep a Death Note out of my hands please.

Wait, so me having and using a Death Note is bad, her doing the same thing is ok?

And she's right.   We would never truly team up.  The only reason we would would have to because we had some common enemy.  And to be united by hatred is a fragile alliance at best.

My motives and intentions only benefit me.  Any "team members" I would have are merely pawns that haven't outlived their usefulness yet.

Though why you would team up with anyone who had the eyes is beyond me.  There's only one reason why someone would get the eyes: to make better use of the Death Note.

Chief Yagami had the eyes but didn't use the death note.  Plus if Bad_Witch helped stop you and agreed to let me hang onto her death note, while allowing her to keep the eyes for future cases, she'd get immunity for any crimes she had committed before.  As long as she doesn't kill again.  Plus I wouldn't kill you after your caught.  I'd destroy your death note, you'd lose your memory, and then I don't know.  I haven't decided what to do next in this scenario.

Exactly..Chief Yagami didn't use the notebook, but still had the eyes. You don't know why I would do such a thing...maybe for some altruistic notion.

I would say the better bet would be not to destroy his notebook. After he loses his memories he's more or less innocent of his crimes...kinda like amnesia. I say lock him in a cell and let him think about what he's done.

But the less death notes in the world the better.  As for what to do about after the memories are gone.... No death note, no memories, no G-Kira, but letting him go could be a risk as well.  If he was to touch another death note would the memories come back or does it have to be the one he possessed?

So if she had used the Death Note but then sided with you, it would be ok?  The deaths on her hands just wouldn't count?  That's just hypocritical of what you've always used to spout.  Oh, and you don't know what would happen to me?  I'd be killed, that's what.  Unless you went all vigilante, you would be working with the authorities.  They would either execute me or I'd be sentenced to life in prison and then be killed by a convict (since all the convicts hate Kira, for obvious reasons).

If you took me down simply for altruistic reasons, I'd be very disappointed in you.

I'd hope you'd take my Death Note away.  It would be very...entertaining to see the resulting chaos.  More so, once I got out and took it back.

It would be safer to kill me.  Perhaps you'd give me the honor of putting the bullet through my head yourself.

And I think it's the original.  But unlike Light, I wouldn't just become "good".  I'd go back to being my normal, egotistical, murderous self.

You sometimes have to make deals in order to stop the bigger evil.  E.G. Yotsuba Group.  And what to do after you are caught is prison, memories or no memories.  Your last comment made it clear.

How naive you are.  You honestly believe that if you catch me, I would never be killed because of it?  That is the only outcome to my capture.  You must be willing to accept that your actions could lead to someone dying.

No, it's not. Any Death Note will bring your memories back, even if your not the owner. Plus, you will keep those memories until you become the owner of that notebook and then lose it. If your never the owner, adn even if you use it, you will keep your memories no matter how much time has past.

The most notiable example in the anime is when Light gies up ownership of his notebook, borrows, Misa's, and his father becomes the owner. At this point in time, Sidoh is the Shinigami attached to the notebook...and that one mafia member is the owner...so there's no notebook at headquarters that Light has ownership of, Chief Yagami owns the second, and Misa is still the owner of the third (this means that Light wasn't the owner when he should have lost his memories for the notebook he gave up). Light remembers everything and even has his lifespan available for his dad to see.

That's why my plan woudl be to have you give up ownership of your own notebook, allow you to touch mine, and lock you away in a cell that the authorities know nothing about. You get to live with your memories, have zero ownership of a notebook, and because of my specially built cell, very little chance of escape. Killing you would ruin my fun.

I would be disappointed in myself. My motives would never be so pure.

And of course all past crimes would be "forgiven". Just like making a deal with the DA when someone rolls on their co-defendant, boss, anyone they want worse. Of course, there woudl need to be a crime first...one that can be linked to me. Otherwise, it's a moot point.

Would you use the death note before you partnered with me?  Would you have to use it once in order to meet the shinagami to get the eyes?

No, you don't have to use it before making the deal. You can make the deal and never use the notebook. As for whether I would use it or not...prove it.
