Misas death theory

i think its very posssible that near was responisble for misas death at the end of the anime.
since he was shown to be the last one in possession of the death note, also he could have wrote misas name into the death note to make sure that there wasnt anyone else who knew of the death notes exisitence who could still use it aside from the SPK and the aizawa group who would never use the notebook anyway.
plus does anyone find it weird how she dies at the exact moment in time that light had died? and i know that anyone reading this is going to point this out:
How would misa be able to transport herself to that building to jump off at the same time as light was going to die?

that whole light running scene could have taken about 20 to 30 minutes to do and by that time misa could have already been on her way to that building, OR since Near was already in possession of the original notebook since the beggining of the episode before the last episode he COULD HAVE written misas name into the death note before going to the warehouse to meet up with light and his group. inside the note if it exists could have been written like this:

Misa amane-Suicide
jumps of the edge of a building once light yagami dies

However this would be impossible becuase no one would be able to know that someone else is dead without being notified or being there in person to see that persons death, Or since near KNEW he was going to win anyway he could have written in the time of her death as well. of course what he didnt realize is that Misa no longer has memories of the death note, completely making her innocent. if Near found out about the Memory erasing thing then that could completely CONVICT Misa amane, i have a bunch of other theorys but my brain cant bring them up right now becuase there are so many.

It is an interesting theory but seems unlikely at best. Near harshly scolds Light calling him nothing more than a murderer, why would he then use the same power and also become one, even against Misa? Do we even know for sure that Misa dies I mean I know it is heavily implied but still...also, as I'm sure you know, she was not innocent - memories or no memories. I actually thought you were gonna make the argument that since Near catches Light he is responsible for Misa committing suicide, that I might loosely see some truth in, but him just blatantly killing her with the Death Note? Naw...

Misa does die, but not until a year later according to Mr Ohba.  They didn't show it in the manga, but in the anime she is shown standing at the top of the building.

She always said she couldn't live without Light.  If you believe the writer, she made it a year then ended it all.

They did intercut scenes of her on the train then on the building with Light dying so I can see where someone would think that both events were happening simultaneously.  I'm not sure that's what they intended, because that was a choice made by the director.

Of course, assuming she DID die at the time Light did, it's always possible Ryuk told her, so she puts on her mourning suit and defenestrates.

Long story short, i am pretty sure Near did not kill Misa with the death note.  The controversy is whether Near was controlling Mikami at the warehouse. At least that's Matsuda's theory.

Yeah, Cowboybebop's theory is all wrong.  Misa died more than a year after both Light died and the Death Note was destroyed.  Since the 23 Day rule exists, Misa couldn't have been killed by the Death Note.

The anime's scenes concerning Misa at the end are not considered canon (time-wise).

As has been said before numerous times, Mikami's death, both in the anime and the manga (since the circumstances are different), is far more suspect.  In the anime, we see Mikami jab a pen into his jugular.  In the manga, he doesn't resist at the warehouse and mysteriously dies one week later while in prison.  Both circumstances could have been orchestrated by Near.  That would also explain Mikami's sudden deviation from expressly following Light's directives.

The only question I have is with the part about Mikami's deviation from following Light's directives.  Not only did Near NOT know that Mikami was using a fake note book until he disobeyed Light, but he didn't have access to a note book to even try to control him.

Once Mikami deviated from Light's instructions, THEN his actions could have been controlled by Near.  Unless you know of a way Near could have done it before then.  I guess it's possible, I just don't see how.

Yeah, great point.  I think I was mixing up this thread with something else.  I dunno.  I'm not up to par tonight.  I should just leave.

Don't go (not that you would :smileyhappy: ), it's just an anomaly.

I did that at work today.  Gave an update to a customer for a ticket that wasn't even the one we were talking about!  It's not you, it may just be something that's going around.

ICIC, I only watched the anime so forgive my ignorance. I never really considered the possibility that Mikami was being controlled by Near actually, interesting stuff...

I didn't either, but aftter the end where it stops in the anime, there is a short chapter that takes place a few years later - Matsuda and Ide are on their way into work and Matsuda has a theory about Near using the death note to control Mikami. I haven't read it in a while (need to read it again), and don't have it with me, but there was a little more to it.  Ide doesn't believe it, and since the death notes were both burned, there is no way to prove it.

It kind of gives a lingering question at the end of the story, you know?  Plus the scene in the warehouse went down differently in the manga.

You really should read it, it's EXCELLENT!  It's kind of a storyboard for the anime, but they do differ in some places, mostly the end.

I've been going on very little sleep for the past 4-5 days.  That, coupled with a few drinks, screwed me up.  I'm still actually going on almost no sleep.  I'm hoping by the weekend I'll get to sleep more than 2-3 hours a night.

Dude!  Yeah, I hope you can get some sleep too.  Lack of sleep does mess one up, I know.  I don't get enough sleep most nights these days, but not to that extent.

For myself, I'm hoping sometime in the next month or three I can get a day off.  I've had one since New Year's (yesterday) and I had to have one of my cats put to sleep. Some day off (plus three or four calls from one of my customers).  It's hard when you don't have a break, I know.  Try to get a day, call in sick if you have to - or if it's possible. Just don't let it make you sick.

Well, when the sh*t hits the fan, someone good has to be called in to clean up the mess.  And it's not a job where I can just call in sick.  Not in this game.

I totally understand that.  Hopefully things will be cleaned up very soon and you can get some rest.

Actually, it's pretty much taken care of.  Threat neutralized.  Just got to get back and hand something over.  Then it's back to "business as usual" until the next thing arises that I have to clean up.
