I'm not sure if this is accurate though... Obviously, as everyone is aware, anyone can post anything online, especially on websites that are easy to edit.

I have mixed emotions on this though. On one hand, if it were produced, I'd look forward to seeing it, since this is a great anime and deserves such credit, along with many others, and I want to see how it turns out. On the other hand though, I'm not looking forward to seeing them anglicize it; it'll more than likely not end up well. Leave good alone, right?

This is obviously about the American Death Note film, which has been in Development Hell for a number of years.  Although it says 2014, I doubt any new info has surfaced since..what was it...2008? 

You show me an actual director and producer, followed by a list of actors who've signed on, and then we'll take it seriously.

I didn't mean for it to seem like that... I was just wondering since I didn't hear anything about it until recently... My only exposure to the franchise is the anime, and I know nothing beyond that... Sorry if it seems redundant though... But seriously? There have been rumors of this for years? That's crazy! But yeah, if it were true, I'd still have mixed feelings about it... But thanks for sharing!

Don't mind Megs, but he is right. Rumors have been going around about that DN movie for years and nothings come of it. Kinda like the rumors about the CB movie...though last I heard that one had to do with production costs.

Something was posted awhile back about the possible name changes for the movie. It's around the board somewhere and I remember not being too happy about them.

But woah... I had no idea about that... And they were thinking about Cowboy Bebop as well? O_o Sorry, I'm really behind on all these series and relevant news... I'm with you with the name change thing... Why would they even want to change the name? That totally defeats the purpose and takes away from the story... Part of the excitement of this anime, I think, lies in the name in and of itself. Besides, it captures the essence of the entire series, so whoever was thinking that was effectively shooting themselves in the foot... Sorry... rant done...

I don't know. All of these series are good and deserve a lot of credit and acclaim, but they couldn't be pulled of IRL, I think.

This actually reminds me of an article that I read about an article published several years ago on April Fool's Day regarding a live action InuYasha film that would also be anglicized. Everything that they put in there, albeit a joke, was just awful and made me bang my head against a wall essentially. The author of the article even randomly related it to The Chronicles of Narnia franchise, which was the best part of the joke (don't get me wrong, both series are my favorites, but you DO NOT compare two totally unlike things like that, even if they have some very minor similarities- in this case, travelling to a different world).   It really did provide a good insight as to how all these stories are ruined when their live action adaptations are produced. It's funny, although I'd dream of getting to participate or even watch something like these, seeing how all of these great stories are ruined makes me say, "Forget it. Leave good enough alone." I'd rather be stuck with a small quantity of high quality work than a large quantity of work that's mediocre at best...

And why would Cowboy Bebop be an issue in terms of production costs? A bunch of major film franchises, such as Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean involve a lot more special effects work, staff, and travelling than Cowboy Bebop would... At least, that's what I think based on my cursory impressions of all of these stories... But then again, I have zero knowledge of the film industry and how much work it takes to produce something, especially a major work that would require a high budget, so the likelihood that what I've said is incorrect is extremely high.

Yeah, the CB one been around for awhile now. All I remember hearing was that it was going to cost too much and they were thinking about cutting back on the costs. Unlike those other titles, CB is an anime and the market for it might be to small for them to try a big money production.

I think you misunderstood the name change. I didn't mean changing the name Death Note. They were changing the names of the cast...making them more Americanized. Because there are no Japanese immigrants in America...nope none at all

Oh! Sorry! Well, that was awkward.... Thanks for clearing that up! But still, I couldn't sit through a film knowing that they've largely distorted the series like that. It would be like that itch that you can't scratch. What would they even call Light, Mike (they do sound kinda similar)?

It's actually funny though. Despite the fact that anime doesn't have as big of a market here as the British or American series, it's actually some of the highest rated stuff on imdb, and the reception of many of the series is usually quite positive. It still makes me a bit sad, though, that people can't really appreciate how great some of these series are. But yeah, the CB thing makes sense...

The only advice I'd say is to at least check the first page (or two) to check if you aren't making a thread about a topic that's been done to death already. 

Not that I guess it really matters since there's only about 5 or 6 people who frequent this board.  But fair warning: you make a mistake, and I'll be there to jump down your throat about it.

But it's not true!  I explained that.  You're here after all, and I was at this board before you were.  And that applies to basically everyone here with the exception of one or two people, who don't come here much anyway.  If it was true, none of you would be here.  But you are.

Trying to insult me now?  I do have thick skin.  I really don't care what people say, but I respond for a particular reason.  It's not a personal reason, but you still wouldn't understand why.  But I also see that you didn't deny that accusation. 

We don't really get new people.  In fact, I don't respond to the vast majority of threads by new people.  They're beneath my notice.  And they usually never come back anyway, either because they're just trolling or were using the board simply to increase their post count.  And besides, would people really be scared away from a message board??  And would you really want such weaklings?

Yeah, that's gotta be it.  It couldn't be the fact that the show is several years old and hasn't run on [as] for a very long time and that fans have moved on to other newer things.  But that would make too much sense.  Much easier to blame one person.
