If I recall correctly, Tom Riddle's diary didn't kill people. The only thing that was special about it was that Tom ripped a piece of his soul out and stuffed it in the diary.

They're pretty much two entirely different things. The closest thing I can relate this show/manga to in modern media is Dexter, really.

Delete this thread for trolling?  Yeah, I wouldn't object.  Looked and smelled like a troll to me.

And Dexter fits a LOT better.  At least the troll could have picked a more appropriate program to cry 'rip off' (except, didnt Death Note come first?).

That's what I thought, that Death Note came before Dexter (but similar in that the main character is a serial killer).

But I must say, even though the comparison doesn't work, I've found enjoyment in the HP series of books.  Especially when describing Voldemort's inner thinkings.  Very compatible with mine.  Almost eerily so.

I only read the first Harry Potter book when they were talking about making the movie (a friend lent it to me).  I enjoyed it, but not enough to read on. I saw the first three movies.  I loved the first one, liked the second. The third I didn't like and wasn't interested enough to continue. 

I'll probably get madly into it 10 years from now. :\

Then you're not really doing the job you set out to do, are you?  You're neither helping us regulars, nor gaining new people with this troll of a topic.  Keep trying.  You know what they say : "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."  A less nice way of saying it would be to grow some backbone and demand that it be done.  Would the mods really care either way?  Probably not.  But it would matter to us.

Yeah I can see that.  It was a failed troll attempt.  It's not like he completely disrupted things - the population here handled it maturely I think.

Well, I wouldn't object if it went away, but if it stays, I guess that's ok too.   Embarassing for the OP though.

Whether it be a troll topic, or even a topic for the cheap "lolz" it is still within the rules to post. Just like anything else around her, an opinion no matter how unbiased, unrealistic or crazy as it may be is allowed to be posted on this board, this is of course, if the topic in question is reasonable to post.

Looking over this topic, it was posted and left here by the poster, there was no reply given by the user (in a trolling manner of any sort), and by the looks of it, nobody in this thread is really upset about it, in fact, it did kick up a small amount of discussion amongst, even the DN regulars, with nobody showing even a hint of anger while discussing.

And I cannot do something that isn't even in my job description to do. The only thing that I suggest would be clicking on the 'Report Inappropriate Content' link in the tab next to the threadmakers post and make your case to them. But looking through this thread, if this was an attempt of trolling it didn't turn out that way, and nobody got hurt, insulted or even really angered by the content of this thread, in fact all of you took this thread like a regular joke thread.

I really don't see any issue with it as of yet, and I really don't think a mod will either, a topic is a topic, and this one didn't get out of hand, but if you would like feel free to report it and get a mods opinion on this one.

Exactly. If it had gotten to the point where there was outright flaming or something of that manner then it would be something for the mods object to, but considering everyone took it the way they did, and no 'feelings were hurt' then I really don't see anything wrong with it other then it being for the 'lolz'.

Just my 2 cents.  We HELPeRs are not allowed to edit, lock, or otherwise interfere with another user's post or thread without that user's permission.  In other words, we are just regular users when it comes to that.  We are not mini-mods.  All we can do is report an offensive post or a spoiler to the mods, like you.  We can spoiler mark a really major spoiler temporarily, after reporting it; but that's all.

If people in this thread find a post offensive, to the point of bending or breaking the TOS, being purposely disruptive, etc., you have to report it like anyone else.  The mods respond to the number of users who feel a post is offensive, too.  So don't leave the responsibility to just one person, please.

Above all else, don't feed the trolls.

If you feel a thread is trolling, don't respond.  If no one replies, the troll loses and the thread sinks to the bottom.  If everyone posts to correct the troll, he wins, no matter what you say.

And I believe that the OP is someone called Bucket who has numerous other alts.

You know, I wouldn't doubt it.  I can't say for sure - I'm still a n00b to this board so I don't know all the players yet - but yeah, a dumb posting like that being kudo'd - would almost have to be the same person with two accounts.

Thanks for that.  I don't have a lot of experience with HeLPeRs, so no idea what y'all are able or allowed to do.   If this is a troll attempt, it's pretty comical in its fail.
