Yeah, it was set up to be like that. But if you through the series it was a lot like that, it wasn't something that you could easily solve, like in the series, I really wanted to make it like the series all the while trying to maintain the whole entire feel as if you really where playing the part of L or even Near.
They were unsolvable up to that point, in fact there were a few other clues that I never got to post that were going to tie. For the Neko clue, I said to look at the letters. In every sentence, that is if you want to have everything setup correctly you focus on the punctuation and well as capitalization, I was going to put another clue that would reveal that where the letters were, I even had an idea of using mistakes to my advatange to hid there name. The Venus sign was probably harder than I was hoping it to be, but I thought the mention of a symbol might help a little since a lot of you were questioning the sex of KIra.
And yes the pattern with the three and octo were kinda misplaced, and not really where I wanted to place them, but, the thing that I did want is for people to notice the Octo, it would make you think one thing that was actually another, this was suppose to tie to the fake Kira, which it fit perfectly, or at least they way I wanted it to fit.
Well actually the clues were to fit to the profiles, the news reports were used to track Kira's patterns as well as hints to who they were. Everything in there tied directly to the profiles in some way, I did mention that not to long into the contest.
The second Kira was brought in, but there was supposed to be more, the 'switch' that had been announced during one of the clues was supposed to tie to the fake Kira, which was the switch between Lupin and film_nut that took place, there was supposed to be more added to this one.
This was probably the hardest decision, I had actually made the mistake of having this contest focus entirely on them as the Kira that everyone was looking for, even if it has tied into film_nut not all of the the clues would fit with them. The icon clue they got, which pretty much could have tied to anyone who had an image gallery with an orange con. The shapes one was wrong that is true, I even corrected it, in the post that was following it. I didn't put much clarfication on how exact you had to be when tying the clues together, basically, it was set up so if you could at least tie even one clue to the real Kira then you'd get it, this was used as a sort of handicap because of the difficulty of this contest at all.
Yes, I will admit I often found it difficult to look on both signs of the coin, I was looking at the clues from my own point of view, which to me tied together in some ways but fell apart in others, which I was going to fix at a later time. Definitely have to work on that part for anything in the future.
This is where this issue would come in, the rules kinda prevent such a thing, if fact I probably would have to have a long talk about that with an admin in order to set something like that, the subjecting of killing something or someone even in the form of a game is kinda shakey and requires a lot of explaination to make sure it'll follow the rules of the TOS as much as possible. Trust me, I love the idea it would have helped make things easier and narrowed things down at little quicker, I could have even gone for more of a storyline kinda deal for it as well. I think I might run this idea again sometime in the future, I'll give the admin a talk about this and we'll go from there.
Yeah, sorry about the thread, it'd ended so I just locked it, I had done the same thing with the registry thread after it was completed.
But in the end, thanks for you input, I'll keep this in mind, first time running this kind of contest especially in this form, I've run dozens of others but never anything like this, so this is kinda a learning experience.
Nonetheless, we'll do a few more contests in the folder and try this again at another time. Until then any further suggestions on anything, including contests are more than welcome.
