Foreseeing the possibility of the main thread becoming more cluttered than one might like in a story, this thread will used to voice comments about or to discuss Baddy's little tale. This way the main thread will have the story placed more aesthetically-pleasing rather than scattered among various other posts.

Good idea. I like it.
I love the story too - I love how chapter one set things up and leaves one wanting to know what happens next. Well *I* want to know what happens next! ![]()
I can see a battle of the notebooks forming. I think. LOL! This is awesome!

I laughed/snorted at Baddy's outfit.
Also at my annoyance of having a Shinigami "partner".

I didn't have any complaints with people's placements, even though I'm not familiar with some of the people who signed up.
Ha ha. No idea. But she better speed things up or we might not see the end of the story till mid February.

Probably will work. That sucks. I so hate Christmas.
Also, The Christmas Note is nothing more than ironic folly. Forcing people to obey your orders (even if those orders are Christmas-themed) really isn't in the Christmas spirit. Isn't the heart supposed to have those feelings voluntarily burst forth from it, not forced upon it? This is nothing more than holding someone at gunpoint and forcing them to mimic happiness. They're not really happy. Just like those people don't really have the Christmas spirit.
While the story is coming along nicely, I'm not sure our personalities were correctly displayed. My reactions would not be a cardboard cutout of Light's (I tend to display more anger in my initial reactions than Light usually does). Nor would Lupin's be of L's (I'm sure Lupin wouldn't have acted so L-ish about that Christmas tree). I also wonder if Groovy would act just like Ryuk. Personally, I would have liked to see Kira's Shinigami not be exactly like Ryuk. We've seen that. I always wondered what would have been different if Light ended up with a Shinigami like Kinddara, Nu, or Armonia. Maybe I'm being too nit-picky...I dunno. I guess I'd just write it differently.

Well, the way I look at it, the people controlled by the Christmas note maybe aren't so much 'feeling' the Christmas spirit themselves, but are acting in a way that creates it in others. Who knows? Maybe their involuntary singing is making THEM feel better too. Dunno, we haven't heard from Lover yet and what he thinks about having to sing. Maybe he's happy seeing other people enjoying his singing.
That characterization of me sounds about right for the most part, but pretty much all she has to go by is message board postings. ![]()

I doubt they like it. It sort of reminds on an old Twilight Zone episode where this town acts super happy and cheerful and nice ALL the time because if they don't, the little kid with God-like powers kills them. The people were mimicking happiness, but that was it. They weren't happy at all.
True, she only has that to go by. But me, her, and Lupin have been doing our little dance for several years now. She should know I'm more prone to violent outbursts than Light. But I did laugh at the parts where I was sighing and pinching my nose in frustration. Because I do that. I've never done that "count to 10" thing though. By 2, I'm probably strangling whoever is there. ![]()

Kinda hard to strangle a Shinigami though ![]()
Yea, I know you and Lupin are coming across more and more like stands in for L and Light. Hell, Inufan still seem more Matsuda-ish to me than her own character. If I had more time to come up with a story, I could have done more with those charactizations....by more time I mean like October. Same could be said about Groovy's, as a Rem , Gelus, or Sidoh like Shinigami wouldn't work...so he's more like Ryuk. I've been more focused on the Christmas note...Mrs. Spooky's, Mafia's, Bebop's, and Lover's characters as they revolve more around the C-Note ending up in a world with a D-Note.
You're not an exact copy of Light though. No matter what Light might be going through, he would always keep his demeanor out in public. I see Light helping a lady he knocked over instead of dismissing her like you did. Despite the fact that you are quick to anger, I'm going for more of a slow burn for your character. Who knows what was running through your mind when you bumped into Mrs. Spooky ![]()
As far as the Christmas tree, Lupin, and L...I'm not sure L even would have noticed or cared. Watari probably did most of that stuff, and L probably didn't pay any attention. He was used to working alone on cases...where as Lupin seems to be trying to keep Inufan focused. While Inu's out finding Christmas trees, Lupin's noticing a drop in killing and the sudden burst in Christmas carols from the prisoners. This could be the break in the case he's been hoping for, and he wants Inufan to work with him...not decorating some tree.

I'm loving this. I didn't expect to play such a prominent part in the story, but having a Kira and anit-Kira makes perfect sense, and I'm pleased to be the anti-Kira - 'cause... that's what I'd do. ![]()
Naturally, I think we need a Matsuda-ish character, and I love that Inufan's filling the role (as long as Inu doesn't mind
).

Well, if it wasn't a Shinigami...
I definitely understand with the time constraints. I wouldn't have tackled creating a story like that unless I had several months to write it and an additional month or two just to get into the writing "groove" by reading more often and really focusing on memorizing writing styles.
I know it's not an exact copy. But I'd still rather have more of me than Light. After figuring out some criminals weren't dying, I would have been more "What the fuck is going on?!?! Why won't they DIE??!?!?" At least initially. I do settle down to the slow simmer of Light. But it's usually preceded with some sort of outburst. At least in private. In public, I work hard to show no real clue as to my thoughts, just like Light. And you did peg me better for bumping into Spooky. That's the absolute most concern I would have shown. I probably wouldn't have even stopped to say anything.
I think L would have noticed Christmas decorations. Of course he would. I'm pretty sure he sees everything. Almost photgraphically. But I'm also sure he would have questioned the reason or need for decorations. While I figure Lupin would react like 99% of people and say "Oh, a Christmas tree" or something. Not saying he wouldn't be focused on the case. But Lupin is more humanely than L is. I would have reacted very L-ish to a tree showing up in my HQ.
Still, don't feel like you need to change the story based on our comments and criticisms. I kind of want to see what you come up with without taking in outside input.

Would you do this, though? You are basically forcing a person's mind and soul to bend to your will. The end result may be good. But your type of people tend to reject the "the ends justify the means" approach, while my type embraces it. This is how I would spread Christmas spirit, by forcing it. Because the end result is more Christmasy, it's just that the means to make that weren't very Christmasy, or probably morally right for that matter.
I don't think you would. If you couldn't do it the right way, the morally right way, you wouldn't. You never seemed the type to force your views onto people.

You're right, I wouldn't.
But for the purposes of the story, it's interesting to see where it goes and how it works out.

Sorry I haven't been able to participate, my computer had a virus.
I am enjoying the story so far.
If I had to to choose my character based on personality I would probably be Aizawa.
However, that being said I have unintentionally behaved like Ryuk before.
So I do like that I was cast as a shinigami.

Quiet, you!
And you're wrong. Shinigami can take sides. Gelus and Rem both proved this. Even Sidoh could be said to take sides (the side which would give him his Note back). Ryuk was the one that was annoyingly neutral.

There's a character named Andre Linoge I think he would be right up your alley.

If apples are what you desire, then yes. All you could ever want. *offers his right hand, which contains an apple, while a cruel smile and a strange gleam lights up his eyes*
No, I never saw it. But I do enjoy Stephen King villains. The Crimson King, Walter O' Dim, Pennywise, Tak, and others. They all had something about them, something I respected to a degree. Maybe it was ambition or desire, I dunno.
